Geography Maryvale is on the Darling Downs on the Cunningham Highway, south west of the state capital, Brisbane. Glengallan Creek which rises on the western slopes of the Main Range is a tributary of the Condamine River. It passes through the locality from east to west. The creek is a source of irrigated water for terraced crops in the area. At the southern and northern boundaries of Maryvale, elevations rise to greater than 900  m above sea level. Maryvale is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the western edge of the Scarborough district, with its western border being Victoria Park Avenue. To the north it is bordered by Highway 401, to the east by Warden and to the south by railroad tracks. History The area was first settled as farmland and the neighbourhood is named after the Maryvale farm that once covered part of the area. It was an early part of Scarborough to be developed, being turned into a new suburb in the early 1950s. The most prominent landmark in the community is the Metro store at Parkway Mall which has a distinctively curved roof, that was the largest wooden arch in Canada at the time of its construction. Originally built as a Grand Union store in 1958 and later converted to a Miracle Food Mart, the Parkway Mall Metro location was declared a heritage building in 2009.

Long (1920-2008) came up with the idea of a master-planned community on the western part of the city of Phoenix, with an aim of turning the area into a suburb with affordable homes and one of the first master planned communities in the country. Maryvale was designed to include space for parks, schools, and the fulfillment of other community services. Marketing involved famous actors of that era including Buster Keaton, Pat Boone, and future President Ronald Reagan. Marievale Bird Sanctuary is a protected area in Gauteng, South Africa. It is about 15 km2 in size, and situated on the East Rand on the southern half of the Blesbokspruit wetland, a Ramsar site. The Blesbokspruit is a major perennial river in Gauteng which is flanked by extensive floodplains on either side. Nearby is the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve.
