Maryland Route 543
Maryland Route 543 (MD 543) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from U.S. Route 40 (US 40) in Riverside north to MD 165 in Pylesville. MD 543 is a north–south highway through central Harford County that connects the communities of Creswell, Fountain Green, Hickory, and Ady with the county's four main east–west highways: US 40, Interstate 95 (I-95), MD 22, and US 1. MD 543 was originally constructed in the early 1930s from Hickory to north of Ady, where the highway followed part of what is now MD 646. The state highway swapped routes with MD 646 to end in Pylesville by 1946. MD 543 was extended south in three steps to MD 7 in the 1950s. The state highway was rerouted at its southern end when I-95 was constructed in the early 1960s and again when the highway's interchange with the Interstate was built in the early 1990s. Riverside is a census-designated place (CDP) in Harford County, Maryland, United States. The population was 6,425 at the 2010 census. The term "Riverside" is generally used interchangeably with "Belcamp"; both names are accepted for the U.S. Postal Service's ZIP Code of 21017. However, the original community of Belcamp is located south of U.S. Route 40, outside the Riverside CDP. Geography Riverside is located at (39.476385, −76.244943). It is bordered to the north by Maryland Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) and to the south by U.S. Route 40 (Pulaski Highway). It extends west to the Bush River and James Run, and to the east it reaches to Grays Run. Diamond Interchange
A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Approaching the interchange from either direction, an off-ramp diverges only slightly from the freeway and runs directly across the minor road, becoming an on-ramp that returns to the freeway in similar fashion. The two places where the ramps meet the road are treated as conventional intersections. Street, Maryland
Street is a rural unincorporated community in northern Harford County, Maryland, United States. One of the central villages in Street is Highland. The village had a station stop on the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad, at milepost 38.6, which served farms within the area until it ceased passenger service in 1954, then terminated freight service in 1958. The post office for Street, Maryland is located in the village of Highland. The village was once home to Highland High School, which later became Highland Elementary School. Highland Elementary School was shut down when the North Harford Elementary School was opened. The large building has other community purposes now, including the alternative Highlands School, Mason-Dixon Community Service, Highland Senior Center and the Street post office. Broad Creek originates on the west side of Constitution Road about 500 feet south of the Pennsylvania state line. Maryland Route 440 (MD 440) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Dublin Road, the state highway runs from MD 543 in Ady east to U.S. Route 1 (US 1) near Dublin. MD 440 was built between Ady and MD 136 in Dublin in the early 1930s and extended east to US 1 in 1956. Route description MD 440 begins at an intersection with MD 543 (Ady Road) in the hamlet of Ady. The state highway heads east as a two-lane undivided road through farmland. MD 440 passes by the forested Scarboro Conservation Area and passes through the hamlet of Scarboro before intersecting MD 136 (Whiteford Road) in the village of Dublin. Broom's Bloom is a historic home located in Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story, frame and rubblestone, gable-roofed house, partially stuccoed and partially shingled. It took its present form from four distinct and discernible periods of growth, from about 1747 to about 1950. The oldest section is four bays by two, and has a hall and parlor plan, measuring approximately . Mount Adams, also known as The Mount, is a historic home and farm complex located at Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland, United States. The complex consists of a working farm, originally part of Broom's Bloom, centered on a large, multi-sectioned, -story frame house built in 1817 in the Federal style. The house has an 1850, -story cross-gabled addition, connected, but an independent unit from the main house, and slightly taller in the Greek Revival style. The property include a stone bank barn, a stone-and-stucco dairy, a stone-and-stucco privy, all dating from the early 19th century, as well as a family cemetery.
