Maryland Route 218
Maryland Route 218 (MD 218) is a state highway located in Prince George's County in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Suitland Road, the highway runs from near Southern Avenue at the District of Columbia boundary east to MD 458 in Suitland. MD 218 provides access to the Suitland Federal Center, which is home to the U.S. Census Bureau. The state highway was constructed in the late 1920s and widened in the early 1940s and again in the late 1940s. The county portion of Suitland Road was reconstructed by the state in the mid-1950s. Route description MD 218 begins at Southern Avenue at the District of Columbia boundary. Suitland Road continues west into Washington to an intersection with Alabama Avenue in the Fairfax Village neighborhood. Suitland Manor is a neighborhood in the unincorporated community of Suitland in Prince George's County. It is located on the northern side of the intersection of Md. Rt 218 (Suitland Road) and Md. Rt 458 (Silver Hill Road). Directly across Suitland Road is the Suitland Federal Center, which is home to the national headquarters of the United States Census Bureau, as well as other government agencies. Maryland Route 337 (MD 337) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known for most of its length as Allentown Road, the highway runs from MD 5 in Camp Springs east to MD 4 near Forestville. MD 337 runs along the southern end of Morningside and the northern edge of Andrews Air Force Base and provides access to several entrances to the military base. The state highway runs concurrently with the easternmost portion of Suitland Parkway. Morningside is an incorporated town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,240. The town developed with the establishment of nearby Andrews Air Force Base and the federal Census Bureau. The government of the town is led by a mayor and town council. Morningside Elementary School and Benjamin Foulois Junior High School/Elementary/Creative and Performing Arts Academy (current) as well as Michael J Polley Neighborhood Park are located within the town limits. Suitland Parkway
The Suitland Parkway is a parkway in Washington, D.C., and Prince George's County, Maryland, administered and maintained by the U.S. National Park Service (NPS), National Capital Parks-East. The road has partial controlled access with a combination of interchanges and at-grade intersections, but without property access for neighboring land-owners. A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge.
