Maryland House of Delegates District 29C is one of the 67 districts that compose the Maryland House of Delegates. Along with subdistricts 29A and 29B, it makes up the 29th district of the Maryland Senate. District 29C includes parts of Calvert County and St. Mary's County, and is represented by one delegate. Demographic characteristics As of the 2020 United States census, the district had a population of 45,970, of whom 34,881 (75.9%) were of voting age. The racial makeup of the district was 35,140 (76.4%) White, 4,929 (10.7%) African American, 155 (0.3%) Native American, 1,234 (2.7%) Asian, 55 (0.1%) Pacific Islander, 663 (1.4%) from some other race, and 3,835 (8.3%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2,247 (4.9%) of the population. Calvert County, Maryland
Calvert County is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 census, the population was 92,783. Its county seat is Prince Frederick. The county's name is derived from the family name of the Barons of Baltimore, the proprietors of the English Colony of Maryland Calvert County is included in the Washington–Arlington–Alexandria, DC–VA–MD–WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. It occupies the Calvert Peninsula, which is bordered on the east by Chesapeake Bay and on the west by the Patuxent River. Calvert County is part of the Southern Maryland region. Larry Hogan
Lawrence Joseph Hogan Jr. (born May 25, 1956) is an American politician and businessman serving as the 62nd governor of Maryland since 2015. A moderate member of the Republican Party, he was secretary of appointments under Maryland governor Bob Ehrlich from 2003 to 2007. Hogan chaired the National Governors Association from 2019 to 2020. Hogan ran unsuccessful campaigns for Maryland's 5th congressional district in 1981 and 1992, the latter of which was incumbent Steny Hoyer's closest race. 2018 Maryland House Of Delegates Election
The 2018 Maryland House of Delegates elections were held on November 6, 2018, as part of the biennial United States elections. All 141 of Maryland's state delegates were up for reelection. Prior to the election, there was little doubt that Democrats would hold their majority in the chamber. Maryland's House of Delegates has had a Democratic majority since the elections of 1920, and it remains a solidly Democratic in elections at both the national and state level. Still, there was some discussion about whether or not Republicans would be able to make inroads in the chamber, especially considering that popular incumbent Governor Larry Hogan was running for reelection at the top of the ticket simultaneously. Tony O'Donnell (politician)
Tony O'Donnell (born March 7, 1961) is an American politician, who represented District 29C in the Maryland House of Delegates. In 2016, Governor Larry Hogan appointed him to the Maryland Public Service Commission. Early life, education, and early career O'Donnell attended Middletown Area High School in Middletown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Naval Nuclear Propulsion School in 1980. He received his B.S. from Regents College (now known as Excelsior University), University of the State of New York in 1985. O'Donnell served in United States Navy, achieving a rank of E-6, from 1979-87. After the Navy, he was a supervisor for the Instrument Modifications Unit at Baltimore Gas & Electric's Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. He received the Edward T.
