Mary S. Young State Recreation Area
Mary S. Young Park is a city park in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located within the city of West Linn, Oregon, West Linn, alongside the Willamette River, and is heavily wooded. It offers more than five miles of hiking trails, bicycle trails, picnicking, bird watching, fishing, sports fields, and a very popular dog off-leash area. The park was created via a donation by Mary Scarborough Young and her husband Thomas E. Young. It was named after Mrs. Young and dedicated on August 7, 1973. It was once owned by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, but is now owned and operated by the West Linn Parks and Recreation. "Mary S. West Linn, Oregon
West Linn is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. A southern suburb within the Portland metropolitan area, West Linn developed on the site of the former Linn City, which was named after U.S. Senator Lewis F. Linn of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, who had advocated the American occupation of the Oregon territory as a counterclaim to the British. The Sullivan hydroelectric plant opened in 1889, and harvested energy from nearby Willamette Falls. The adjacent Willamette Falls Paper Company began operations the same year. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 25,109.
