Mary Ann McLaughlin
Mary Ann McLaughlin (born 1968) is an American cardiologist, the author of multiple book chapters and an associate professor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Her research – funded with grants from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the New York Academy of Medicine – focuses on the improvement of cardiovascular care for women, the elderly and minorities. Biography McLaughlin received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia in 1984 and graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1990 as member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Mary Louise McLaughlin
Mary Louise McLaughlin (September 29, 1847 – January 19, 1939) was an American ceramic painter and studio potter from Cincinnati, Ohio, and the main local competitor of Maria Longworth Nichols Storer, who founded Rookwood Pottery. Like Storer, McLaughlin was one of the originators of the art pottery movement that swept the United States. Biography Mary Louise McLaughlin was born September 29, 1847, to a wealthy family of Cincinnati, her father being the owner of a successful dry goods company in the city. Her older brother was architect James W. McLaughlin. Showing an artistic ability at a young age, McLaughlin did not take formal art lessons until 1871 at a private school for girls. In 1874, at Cincinnati's McMicken School of Design, later the Art Academy of Cincinnati, McLaughlin took a china painting class offered by a Mr. Benn Pitman. Mary McLaughlin Craig (1889–1964) was an architect, working throughout California despite her lack of formal training as a proponent of the Spanish Colonial style. The archive of her correspondence, specifications, drawings, notes, and photographs was acquired in 1976 by the Art, Design, & Architecture Museum at the University of California, Santa Barbara as part of the Architecture and Design Collection. Biography Born in Deadwood, South Dakota, she moved to Pasadena in 1913. In 1919, she married architect James Osborne Craig. They worked together as architects in Santa Barbara until the time of his death, at which point she facilitated ongoing work on the projects and subsequently developed her own architectural practice focused mainly on residential works of architecture.
