Mary Connery is a former camogie player, winner of the Cuchulainn award presented by '' Gaelic Weekly'' magazine in 1965. Career She won Ashbourne Cup honours with University College Galway in 1964. In 1966 she captained St Paul’s in their first All Ireland club final. Coaching & Administration While still a player, she was elected chair of Kilkenny camogie board in 1966. Liz Neary
Liz Neary (born 1951 in Kilkenny, Ireland) is a retired Irish sportsperson. She played camogie at various times with her local clubs St. Paul's and Austin Stacks and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1970 until 1987. Neary is regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. In a senior inter-county career that lasted for nineteen years she won seven All-Ireland medals, five National League medals and five Gael Linn Interprovincial medals. With her two clubs St. Paul's and Austin Stack's she collected a huge haul of twenty-one county titles and six All-Ireland club medals. Neary was also presented with a number of personal awards during her career. In 1981 and 1986 she was awarded the B&I Player of the Year Award. All Ireland Colleges Camogie Championship
The All-Ireland Colleges Camogie Championship is an Irish camogie tournament played each year to determine the national champion secondary school or second level college. Since 1969 it has been administered by the Secondary Education committee of the Camogie Association. The record holders are St Raphaels College, Loughrea, Co Galway with 8 senior titles in a row. The current holders of the cup are Seamount College, Kinvara. Seamount defeated near-neighbours St. Flannan's College in a thrilling final played at Gort GAA. The scoreline was 1-5 to 0-6. Graded Competitions There are graded competitions for colleges at three different levels. The All-Ireland Club Camogie Championship is a competition for club teams in the Irish women’s field sport of camogie. It is contested by the senior club champions of the leading counties and organised by An Cumann Camógaíochta. Trophy The trophy for the competition was donated by Bill Carroll, whose daughter, Ann was one of the outstanding players of the first decade of the competition, winning Championships with both St Patrick’s, Glengoole and St Paul’s, Kilkenny. History The competition was established in 1964, six years before the equivalent competitions in hurling and Gaelic football.
