Mary's Ankle
''Mary's Ankle'' is a 1920 American silent comedy film directed by Lloyd Ingraham and written by Luther Reed based upon the play of the same name by May Tully. The film stars Douglas MacLean, Doris May, Victor Potel, Neal Burns, James Gordon, and Lizette Thorne. The film was released on February 29, 1920, by Paramount Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine, Dr. Arthur P. Hampton (MacLean), a struggling young physician, announces his marriage to a fictitious "Mary Jane Smith" in an effort to get his wealthy uncle George P. Hampton (Gordon) to give him and his two friends, a lawyer and a broker, sufficient funds to get them out of financial difficulties. He then finds himself in a difficult position when an injured young woman is brought to his office for treatment proves to be Mary Jane Smith (May) and his uncle appears to meet the bride. Lloyd Ingraham
Lloyd Chauncey Ingraham (November 30, 1874 – April 4, 1956) was an American film actor and director. Biography Born in Rochelle, Illinois, Ingraham appeared in more than 280 films between 1912 and 1950, as well as directing more than 100 films between 1913 and 1930. Films for which he is known include ''Scaramouche'' (1923), ''The Padrone's Ward'' (1914) and '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935). He performed in several films with John Wayne including '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935), '' Empty Saddles'' (1936), '' Westward Ho'' (1935), ''The Lonely Trail'' (1936) and ''Conflict'' (1936). He died of pneumonia in the Motion Picture Hospital at Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, aged 82. His remains are buried in Chapel of the Pines Crematory. Ida Lewis (actress)
Ida May Lewis (May 1848 - April 21, 1935) was an American stage and screen actress. She started in the theater when Daly and Wallack were the top manager impresarios. She later appeared in many silent films allegedly beginning with David Horsley studios in 1911. From 1913 she did much silent film work. She appeared in Frank Keenan's version of '' The Bells'' in 1918. Her final film was in 1932 in an uncredited role in the May Robson 'Grandma' segment of ''If I Had a Million''. Lewis died at her home in Los Angeles on April 21, 1935, and was buried somewhere in Hollywood Forever Cemetery as her listed plot had been removed by 1935.
