Marwood Marchant
Marwood Godfrey Marchant (18 June 1922 – 28 June 1972) was a Welsh professional footballer who scored 22 goals from 52 appearances in the Football League, playing as an inside forward for Cardiff City and Torquay United. Career Marchant was playing non-league football for Milford United before signing for Cardiff City in 1950. He scored six goals during the 1950–51 season, including a brace and a single goal in 8–0 and 7–1 thrashings of Welsh league sides Barry Town and Bangor City in the opening rounds of the Welsh Cup and the only goal of the South Wales derby match against Swansea Town on 24 March 1951. However, he struggled to oust more established forwards such as Wilf Grant from the starting line-up. Milford Haven
Milford Haven ( cy, Aberdaugleddau, meaning "mouth of the two Rivers Cleddau") is both a town and a community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated on the north side of the Milford Haven Waterway, an estuary forming a natural harbour that has been used as a port since the Middle Ages. The town was founded in 1790 by Sir William Hamilton, who designed a grid pattern. It was originally intended to be a whaling centre, though by 1800 it was developing as a Royal Navy dockyard which it remained until the dockyard was transferred to Pembroke in 1814. It then became a commercial dock, with the focus moving in the 1960s, after the construction of an oil refinery built by Esso, to logistics for fuel oil and liquid gas. Cardiff City Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl-droed Dinas Caerdydd) is a professional association football club based in Cardiff, Wales. Plainmoor is an association football stadium located in the Plainmoor suburb of Torquay, Devon, England. Since 1921, the stadium has been the home of Torquay United Football Club, who currently compete in the National League, the fifth tier of English football. During the first half of the 2018-19 National League South season, the stadium also hosted Truro City games. Wilf Grant
Wilfred Grant (3 August 1920 – 17 July 1990) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward for Southampton, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town. Playing career Early career Grant was born in Bedlington and as a youth played for Morpeth Town before joining Newcastle United as a trainee in 1937. His career was interrupted by the Second World War when he joined the Royal Air Force. Towards the end of the war he signed professional papers with Manchester City F.C., Manchester City, but continued with the RAF. Whilst stationed at Wareham, Dorset, Wareham he guested for Southampton; as he had a brother working for Southern Railway (Great Britain), Southern Railway at Eastleigh he was keen to remain in Hampshire and after the cessation of hostilities Southampton bought him out of his Manchester City contract for £1,000.
