Marve Island
Marve Island was among a group of islands that lay to the west of Salsette island near Mumbai, India. Manori and Gorai on Dharavi Island lay to its north while Erangal and Madh on Madh Island lay to its south. Marve remained separate from the mainland Salsette till as late as 1808, while by the year 1882, access to the island was possible by merely walking across the tidal inlets during low tide. Rapid urbanisation on Salsette island has resulted in the formation of dry land between Marve and Salsette. Marve is now connected to the mainland by a causeway that is part of the Malad - Marve road and to Madh island via a small bridge over a creek at Marve's southern tip. Salsette
Salsette Island is an island in Konkan division of the state of Maharashtra on India's west coast. Administratively known as Greater Mumbai, the city district of Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban District, Mira Bhayander and a portion of Thane lie within it, making it very populous and one of the most densely populated islands in the world. Manori
Manori is a village located on Dharavi Bet in northern Mumbai, India. It is known for its beach and the Manori Creek. Transportation * Manori can be reached by road via Bhayander, Dahisar Check naka. * The sea route, however, is relatively shorter. Gorai
Gorai ( oɾaːi is a village at Dharavi Bhet, in Mumbai, India. It is located on the North-western part of the island of Salsette. Gorai is accessed more usually by a ferry crossing the Manori Creek and Gorai creek or otherwise by the overland route through Bhayander. Gorai is bordered by the villages of Manori and Uttan, Pali, Chowk, Dongri, Tarodi, Rai, Morva and Murdhe. Until the 1980s, Gorai was known for its clean beaches and palm trees. However, with the increase in pollution around Mumbai, the Arabian Sea is unfit for swimming although Gorai is less polluted than the other beaches in Mumbai. Madh Island
Madh Island (Marathi pronunciation: əɖʱ is a group of several quaint fishing villages and farmlands in northern Mumbai. Geography The area is bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west, and the Malad creek on the east. There are few beaches like Erangal Beach, Dana Pani Beach, Silver Beach, Aksa Beach. Accessibility The area is accessible by bus service (#271 to Malad and #269 to Borivali) or an autorickshaw from Malad. There is also a ferry service from Versova. Manori Creek (also Malad Creek) is a creek (tidal channel) in northern Mumbai (Bombay), India. It is also known as the Gorai Creek further north. The Dahisar River drains into this creek. Marve Beach
Mondeuse noire () is a red French wine grape variety that is grown primarily in the Savoy region of eastern France. The grape can also be found in Argentina, Australia, California, Switzerland and Sicily. Plantings of Mondeuse noire was hit hard during the phylloxera epidemic of the mid to late 19th century which nearly wiped out the vine from eastern France. While the grape recovered slightly in the 20th century, French plantations of Mondeuse noire fell sharply in the 1970s, with just over left in France in 2000. In the early 21st century, it seems the variety has increased somewhat in popularity, as it can give good wines if the planting site is chosen carefully. It was previously suggested that Mondeuse noire was identical to the northern Italian wine grape variety Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso due to the similarity of the wines. Aksa Beach
Akshe Beach is a popular beach and a vacation spot in Aksa village in Malad, Mumbai, India. It is situated close to Marvé Beach. It is a popular weekend destination. It is dotted with many private cottages and hotels, some of which are rented out to tourists and visitors.
