Martyn Busby
Martyn George Busby (born 24 March 1953) is an English former professional footballer who played mainly with Queens Park Rangers. Born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, Busby signed professional forms with QPR in 1970 and made his debut in a 2–1 defeat against Leicester City in April 1970. He played midfield and was considered one of the brightest prospects that the QPR youth team had produced for many years. He began establishing himself in the first team towards the end of the 1971–72 season when he started the last fourteen matches. The 1972–73 season again saw him start every game until catastrophe struck in a game against Fulham at Craven Cottage in October. He suffered an extremely badly broken leg and it was thought at the time to be career-ending. After the best part of eighteen months out of the game he did return to play but was never quite the same player and remained only a fringe player until he moved to Portsmouth on loan for a spell in 1976. High Wycombe
High Wycombe, often referred to as Wycombe ( ), is a market town in Buckinghamshire, England. Lying in the valley of the River Wye surrounded by the Chiltern Hills, it is west-northwest of Charing Cross in London, south-southeast of Aylesbury, southeast of Oxford, northeast of Reading and north of Maidenhead. According to the 2021 United Kingdom census, High Wycombe's built up area has a population of 127,856, making it the second largest town in the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire after Milton Keynes. Notts County Football Club is a professional association football club based in Nottingham, England. Alan Devonshire
Alan Ernest Devonshire (born 13 April 1956) is an English former professional footballer who is the current manager of Maidenhead United. He was a wide midfielder who played for West Ham United, with whom he won the FA Cup in 1980, and Watford, where he finished his career in 1992. Devonshire won eight caps for England between 1980 and 1983. He subsequently became a manager with Maidenhead United, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Braintree Town. Playing career Early career Born in Park Royal, then a part of Middlesex, Devonshire had been a schoolboy footballer but had been turned away by Crystal Palace at age 14 for being too small. Vivian Dennis Busby (born 19 June 1949) is an English former professional footballer and manager. He played for Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, Newcastle United, Fulham Norwich City, Stoke City, Sheffield United, Tulsa Roughnecks, Blackburn Rovers and York City. Playing career Born in Slough, Buckinghamshire, Busby started his playing career at Wycombe Wanderers in 1966, but was unable to hold down a regular place in their team, despite his emerging talent. He moved to Luton Town in January 1970. At Kenilworth Road Busby scored four goals in his first nine matches helping the club gain promotion to the Second Division in 1969–70. He scored eight goals in 1970–71 but struggled to find form in 1971–72 and spent time out on loan at Newcastle United. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
