Marty Passaglia
Martin Harold Passaglia (April 22, 1919 – July 17, 2004) was an American professional basketball player. He spent two seasons in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) as a member of the Washington Capitols (1946–47) and the Indianapolis Jets (1948–49). Gate, Washington
Gate is an unincorporated community in Thurston County, Washington, United States. Gate is located on the Black River, west-northwest of Rochester. History The community was established in 1881 and platted in 1890. The Northern Pacific Railway built a junction in Gate, and the town developed a lumber industry. The community was named Gate due to the railroad junction, which made it the "gateway to the coast". Much of the town was devastated by fires in the early 1900s, and the decline of the area's lumber mills further hurt Gate's economy. Arts and culture The Gate School, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located in Gate. In basketball, a field goal is a basket scored on any shot or tap other than a free throw, worth two or three points depending on the distance of the attempt from the basket. Uncommonly, a field goal can be worth other values such as one point in FIBA 3x3 basketball competitions or four points in the BIG3 basketball league. In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. An assist is also credited when a basket is awarded due to defensive goaltending. There is some judgment involved in deciding whether a passer should be credited with an assist. An assist can be scored for the passer even if the player who receives the pass makes a basket after dribbling the ball for a short distance. In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the Key (basketball), restricted area.
