Marty Mitchell (singer)
Marty Mitchell is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his top-forty country hit "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" and the album of the same name. Biography Mitchell was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He was discovered by Marty Robbins and performed alongside Robbins at the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 14. In 1974, he signed with Atlantic Records and released two singles. He then signed with Motown Hitsville, releasing his version of "My Eyes Adored You" that reached No. 87 on the country chart. His debut album ''You Are the Sunshine of My Life'' was released in 1977, with the title track reaching No. 34. In subsequent years, Mitchell performed in numerous bands in the Southwest, including The Arizona Band and Stumpwater-Jak. He continues to perform in the Phoenix area. Marty Robbins
Martin David Robinson (September 26, 1925 – December 8, 1982), known professionally as Marty Robbins, was an American singer, songwriter, actor, multi-instrumentalist, and NASCAR racing driver. Robbins was one of the most popular and successful country and western singers for most of his nearly four-decade career, which spanned from the late 1940s to the early 1980s. He was also an early outlaw country pioneer. Born in Glendale, Arizona, Robbins taught himself guitar while serving in the United States Navy during World War II, and subsequently drew fame performing in clubs in and around his hometown. The ''Grand Ole Opry'' is a weekly American country music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a one-hour radio "barn dance" on WSM. My Eyes Adored You
"My Eyes Adored You" is a 1974 song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan. It was originally recorded by The Four Seasons in early 1974. After the Motown label balked at the idea of releasing it, the recording was sold to lead singer Frankie Valli for $4000. After rejections by Capitol and Atlantic Records, Valli succeeded in getting the recording released on Private Stock Records, but the owner/founder of the label, Larry Uttal, wanted only Valli's name on the label. The single was released in the US in November 1974 and topped the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in March 1975. "My Eyes Adored You" also went to number 2 on the Easy Listening chart. ''Billboard'' ranked it as the No. 5 song for 1975.
