Martin Quinn (mayor)
Martin Quinn (born 24 December 1949) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He was Mayor of Galway from 2000 to 2001. Quinn was born in Galway's College Road on Christmas Eve, 1949. His parents were Frank Quinn and Maureen Linnane, both of Ardrahan, who married in 1935. Frank was related to Ellen Quinn who was killed during the Irish War of Independence. He was the twelfth of nineteen children. Quinn served with the CIÉ from 1969, serving mainly the west of Ireland. Active since then in trade unions and politics, he was selected in 1998 as a candidate by Fianna Fáil for the next local elections. He was elected in June 1999 for Galway's West Ward. His first meeting as Mayor took place on 10 July 2000, and became notable as the then-longest continuous meeting of Galway City Council; the issue was the Connacht Waste Management Programme, including a proposal for incineration, and it lasted over four and a half hours. Martin Quinn (Gaelic Footballer)
Martin Quinn (1938 – 12 December 2021) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at club level with Kilbride and at inter-county level with the Meath senior football team. He usually lined out at full back. Career Quinn was full-back on the Kilbride team that earned promotion from junior to senior in the space of five seasons. After winning the respective Meath JFC and Meath IFC titles in 1960 and 1962, he won his first Meath SFC title in 1964. He won a second title in 1967 and then completed a three-in-a-row between 1969 and 1971. Having represented the Meath minor football team for two years, Quinn made his senior debut in a tournament game against Kerry in 1958. He was one of the key figures on the team that won the Leinster Championship in 1964. Martin–Quinn scores or M-Q scores are dynamic metrics used to gauge the ideology of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice based on their voting record. Therefore, a jurist's score will continuously change, unlike static measures of ideology such as the Segal–Cover score and Judicial Common Space score. Martin–Quinn scores are among the most commonly used measures of judicial ideology. History and method The concept of the Martin–Quinn score was published in a 2002 paper by Andrew D. Martin and Kevin M. Quinn. The Martin–Quinn score uses Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods to fit a Bayesian model of ideal points. The ideal points can change over time due to the item response model. MQ scores are theoretically unbounded (have no minimum or maximum values).
