Martin O'Doherty
Martin O'Doherty (born 26 March 1952) is an Irish former hurler who played as a full-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Galway, O'Doherty first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Coláiste Chríost Rí. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor teams as a dual player, before later joining the under-21 sides. He made his senior hurling debut during the 1971 championship. O'Doherty later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won three All-Ireland medals, six Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. The All-Ireland-winning captain 1in 1977, he was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, O'Doherty won one Railway Cup medal. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Roscrea () is a market town in County Tipperary, Ireland, which in 2016 had a population of 5,446. Roscrea is one of the oldest towns in Ireland, having developed around the 7th century monastery of Saint Crónán of Roscrea, parts of which remain preserved today. Youghal GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Youghal, in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club fields both Hurling and Gaelic football teams and also has junior camogie and ladies football teams. The club is a member of Cork GAA and Imokilly GAA, Imokilly divisional board. The Fitzgibbon Cup ( ga, Corn Mhic Giobúin) is the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions (universities, colleges and institutes of technology) in Ireland. The Fitzgibbon Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. UCD GAA or University College Dublin Gaelic Athletic Association club is a Dublin based Gaelic games club in University College Dublin. The UCD hurling club was founded in 1900 and boasted the mottos "Ad Astra" and "Cothrom Féinne". UCC is a football and hurling club associated with University College Cork. UCC teams play in the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship as well as the two main third-level competitions namely the Sigerson Cup in football, the Fitzgibbon Cup in hurling and the Ashbourne Cup in camogie. The Hogan Cup ( ga, Corn Uí Ógáin), also known as the All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior A Football Championship, is the top level Gaelic football championship for secondary schools (sometimes referred to as colleges) in Ireland. The competition itself is regularly referred to by the trophy's name. The 2022 champions are Naas C.B.S., who won the cup for the first time by defeating St Brendan's College in the final.
