The (, "Armed SS") was the combat branch of the Nazi Party's ''Schutzstaffel'' (SS) organisation. Its formations included men from Nazi Germany, along with Waffen-SS foreign volunteers and conscripts, volunteers and conscripts from both occupied and unoccupied lands. The 34th SS Volunteer Grenadier Division "Landstorm Nederland" (german: 34. SS-Freiwilligen Grenadier-Division "Landstorm Nederland")Official designation in German language as to „Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv“ in Freiburg im Breisgau, stores of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. was a division in the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II. It was formed by converting the SS Volunteer Brigade Landstorm Nederland into a division. It comprised volunteers of Dutch people, Dutch background and saw action on the Western Front (WWII), Western Front, but its strength never reached more than a brigade. The unit fought various actions of the Eastern and Western fronts. It took part in fighting in the Netherlands, then Pomerania, and then on the Seelow heights. The War Order of the German Cross (german: Der Kriegsorden Deutsches Kreuz), normally abbreviated to the German Cross or ''Deutsches Kreuz'', was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 28 September 1941. It was awarded in two divisions: in gold for repeated acts of bravery or military leadership; and in silver for distinguished non-combat war service.
