Belmont is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is located east of Perth's central business district (CBD) on the southern bank of the Swan River. Its local government area is the City of Belmont. The suburb, part of a land grant assigned to Captain Francis Henry Byrne in 1831, was believed to have been named Belmont after Byrne's estate in England. The land was purchased by Shepherd Smith of Sydney in 1882, who subdivided it in 1897–1898. The local government body based in Belmont was originally known as the Belmont Park Road Board. Central Wheatbelt is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. As the name suggests, the district is centrally located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Politically, Central Wheatbelt is a safe National Party seat. History Central Wheatbelt was first created for the 2008 state election. It was essentially an amalgamation of the abolished National-held districts of Avon and Merredin, although parts of each ended up in neighbouring districts. Roughly half the new district's voters came from each of the two former districts. The original proposal had the newly created district persisting with the name Merredin. Moora is a townsite located 177 km north of Perth in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council.. Central Midlands Senior High School
Central Midlands Senior High School is a comprehensive public co-educational high day school, located on Ranfurly Street in Moora, a regional centre in the Wheatbelt region, north of Perth, Western Australia. Overview The school was established in 1971 and by 2011 had an enrolment of 194 students between Year 8 and Year 12, approximately 20% of whom were Aboriginal. The school is part of an education precinct along with St James Residential College that provides 60 places for students to board while attending high school. In 2005 it was announced the school was to have a new library and telecentre added to the campus. Construction on the $1.4 million shared school-community facility was to commence in 2006 and be completed in 2007.
