Marsiling–Yew Tee Group Representation Constituency
The Marsiling–Yew Tee Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-western part of Singapore. The constituency encompasses Chua Chu Kang (Yew Tee), Sungei Kadut Industrial Area, Kranji, Woodlands Checkpoint, and the west part of Woodlands. The four divisions of the GRC: Limbang, Marsiling, Yew Tee and Woodgrove. The Chua Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency located in the western area of Singapore. There are four divisions of the GRC: Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Gombak, Keat Hong and Brickland. The 2017 Singaporean presidential election was held to elect the next President of Singapore. Halimah Yacob was elected in an uncontested election due to lack of eligible candidates and she was the only candidate that was granted an eligibility certificate to contest in the 2017 presidential election, which was reserved for candidates from the Malay community, who had not held the presidency since 1970. Hany Soh Hui Bin ( zh, s=苏慧敏, p=Sū Huìmǐn; born 1987) is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. 2020 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on Friday, 10 July 2020 to elect 93 members to the Parliament of Singapore across 31 constituencies. Parliament was dissolved and the general election called by President Halimah Yacob on 23 June, on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. It elected members of parliament to the 14th Parliament of Singapore since Singapore's independence in 1965, using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voting was mandatory for all Singaporeans who were aged 21 or above as of 1 March 2020. This election was the 18th general election in Singapore and the 13th since independence. Alex Yam Ziming
Alex Yam Ziming ( zh, c=任梓铭, p=Rèn Zǐmíng; born 1981) is a Singaporean politician who has been serving as Mayor of North West District since 2020. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Yew Tee division of Marsiling–Yew Tee GRC since 2011. Singapore Democratic Party
The Singapore Democratic Party (abbreviation: SDP) is a politcal party in Singapore. The party was founded on 6 August 1980 by Chiam See Tong. During the 1991 general election, Ling How Doong and Cheo Chai Chen won Bukit Gombak SMC and Nee Soon SMC respectively, giving the party a total of three seats in Parliament. When Chiam fell out with the party's Central Executive Committee in 1993 and subsequently left the party in 1996 for the splinter Singapore People's Party (SPP), the party became destabilised. Chiam was succeeded by Chee Soon Juan, who has remained as Secretary-General ever since. Marsiling
Marsiling is a suburb of Woodlands, Singapore, extends from the north of Woodlands Square to the Woodlands Checkpoint, bordering Malaysia. It presents the older living patterns of Singapore; it is a quieter and much denser estate, often offering a reasonable and larger alternative to other housing options, and houses a large number of elderly and heavy-duty industries.
