Marshall County High School (Kentucky)
Marshall County High School is a secondary school in the Draffenville area of unincorporated Marshall County, Kentucky, United States, near Benton. History Marshall County High School was incorporated in 1974 as a merger of North Marshall High School, Benton High School, and South Marshall High School which all became junior high schools (grades 7-9). The school first consisted of grades 10-12. The first Graduating class was May 1975. In 1988, the high school took on 9th grade.. The county junior high schools became middle schools and took on 6th grade from the elementary schools. Marshall County High School also had a Vocational Education School for adults and students alike which opened a year earlier in 1973. It is now known as Marshall County Technology Center which houses its various vocational trades for the students. Benton, Kentucky
Benton is a home rule-class city in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The current mayor of this city is Rita Dotson. The population was 4,756 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. History Benton was founded in 1842 by John Bearden and Francis H. Clayton. The town was named for Thomas Hart Benton, a senator from Missouri. Benton was then incorporated in 1845. In 1908, Benton drove its African American residents out of town, becoming a sundown town along with the rest of Marshall County. On January 23, 2018, a shooting occurred at Marshall County High School, near Benton, resulting in 19 injuries and 2 fatalities. Draffenville, Kentucky
Draffenville is an unincorporated community in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. It is next to Benton, and lies at the intersection of the Julian M. Carroll Purchase Parkway, U.S. Route 68, and U.S. Route 641. Several businesses, Marshall County High School, and Mike Miller County Park are located in the community. Draffenville resulted from the construction of the Kentucky Dam in the late 1930s. Businesses sprang up to service the workers on the dam. Marshall County is a county located in far western portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,659. Its county seat is Benton. Daniel Matthew Langhi (born November 28, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was raised in the small western Kentucky town of Benton.
