Marshall is a village in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Maunesha River. The population was 3,862 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In June 1837, Andrew Bird, Zenas Bird and Aaron Petrie began a settlement along the banks of the Maunesha River. In the fall of 1838, a fire destroyed the settlement. Marshall is a town in Richland County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 600 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Gillingham is located in the town. The ghost town of McGrew was also located in the town. History The town was named after brothers Harvey and John Marshall, whom settled in the town in 1851. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.3 km2), all of it land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 600 people, 211 households, and 163 families residing in the town. The population density was 16.6 people per square mile (6.4/km2). There were 265 housing units at an average density of 7.4 per square mile (2.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.33% White, 0.17% Native American, 0.33% from other races, and 2.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.83% of the population. Marshall is a town in Rusk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 683 at the 2000 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.8 square miles (92.6 km2), all land. History In October, 1852 a survey crew working for the U.S. government marked all the section corners in the six mile square which would become Marshall, walking through the woods and swamps, measuring with chain and compass.
