Description Beginning at an elevation of near Red Rock Pass, Marsh Creek flows generally north near the communities of Downey and Arimo. Bannock County is a county in the southeastern part of Idaho. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 87,018, making it the sixth-most populous county in Idaho. The county seat and largest city is Pocatello. The county was established in 1893 and named after the local Bannock tribe. Red Rock Pass
Red Rock Pass is a low mountain pass in the western United States in southeastern Idaho, located in southern Bannock County, south of Downey. It is geologically significant as the spillway of ancient Lake Bonneville. It is traversed by U.S. Route 91 at an elevation of above sea level, bounded by two mountain ranges; the Portneuf to the east and the Bannock to the west. The pass was cut through resistant Paleozoic shale, limestone, and dolomite, and forms a narrow gap in length. At one time the pass was higher, where the shoreline of Pleistocene Lake Bonneville stood. The pass takes its name from the red limestone cliffs which border it. Portneuf River (Idaho)
The Portneuf River is a tributary of the Snake River in southeastern Idaho, United States. It drains a ranching and farming valley in the mountains southeast of the Snake River Plain. The city of Pocatello sits along the river near its emergence from the mountains onto the Snake River Plain. The river is part of the Columbia River Basin. Inkom is a city in Bannock County, Idaho. It is part of the Pocatello, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 854 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the home of the smallest airport in the world, Simko Field Airport 1ID9, with a runway length of 122 meters (400 feet). History The Shoshone Indians named the area around present day Inkom "Ingacom", a reference to the rock formation on the eastern side of town, where one can see the remnants of the "Red Hare".
