Marr College
Marr College (Scottish Gaelic: ''Colaiste Mhàrr'') is a co-educational secondary school in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland. It is owned by the Marr Trust and is operated by South Ayrshire Council which was transferred to then Strathclyde Regional Council in 1975, with South Ayrshire Council being responsible for providing the educational provisional provided by the school. The school was gifted to the town of Troon by Charles Kerr Marr. Throughout 2016-2017, it underwent extensive restoration works including a new build extending on from the original school building. In 2021, 991 pupils attend Marr College. In 2022, Marr College was ranked as the 68th best performing state school in Scotland, a drop from 35th in the 2021 rankings. Despite this, Marr College outperformed other secondary schools in South Ayrshire and is regarded as the best performing secondary school in South Ayrshire. Troon
Troon is a town in South Ayrshire, situated on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland, about north of Ayr and northwest of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Troon has a port with freight services and a yacht marina. Up until January 2016, P&O Ferries, P&O operated a seasonal ferry service to Larne. In May 2006, a ferry service to Campbeltown was added, although this was withdrawn the following year. In the 2001 census the population of Troon, not including the nearby village of Loans, South Ayrshire, Loans but including the Barassie area, was estimated at 14,766, a 4.77% increase on the 1991 estimate of 14,094. Alan Hutton
Alan Hutton (born 30 November 1984) is a Scottish former professional association football, footballer who played as a right back (association football), right back. Hutton started his career with Rangers F.C., Rangers, and won the 2004–05 Scottish Premier League, league title in 2005. He moved to English football with Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, and helped them win the League Cup later that year. After a loan spell with Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland in 2010, Hutton joined Aston Villa F.C., Aston Villa in 2011. Marr College RFC
Marr RFC is a rugby union team based in Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland. They play in the . History Marr play their home games at Fullarton estate and has done since early 1970s. Until then it had used the school grounds since the club's formation in the 1940s. It was originally for the former pupils of Marr College, a secondary school in Troon, and there is still a close affiliation between the club and local high school. They play in the distinct colours of purple, gold and green. Over the last few years Marr has had a revival mainly due to the introduction of former Scotland 'A' cap Craig Redpath as head coach and latterly Former Ayr players Paul Burke and Stephen Adair as additional coaches. Rory William McKenzie (born 7 October 1993) is a Scottish footballer playing as a midfielder for Kilmarnock. Innes Cameron (born 22 August 2000) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Kilmarnock. Susannah Yolande Fletcher (9 January 1939 – 15 January 2011), known professionally as Susannah York, was an English actress. Brian Ian Whittle (born 26 April 1964) is a Scottish politician and former athlete, who has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the South Scotland (Scottish Parliament electoral region), South Scotland region since 2016 Scottish Parliament election, 2016. Tom Walsh (born 11 July 1996) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Championship in his second stint with the club. He became the youngest player to make an appearance for Rangers in Scottish league football, when he played for them aged 16 in 2012. Jamie Ness
Jamie Ness (born 2 March 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Forfar Athletic. Ness began his career with Rangers and made his debut for the first team in January 2011. He then scored against Celtic in the Scottish Cup but his progress was hampered by injuries. In 2012, he became a free agent and joined Stoke City. Neil Andrew Murray (born 21 February 1973 in Bellshill) is a Scottish former footballer. He began his career with Rangers in the early 1990s, and also played for clubs in Switzerland, France, Germany and England. He represented the Scotland Under-21 national team. Early life Murray was educated at Marr College in Troon, South Ayrshire. Career Playing Murray began his career with Rangers, where he won the domestic treble in 1992/93.
