Marlborough Station
Marlborough Station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta. It serves the Northeast Line (Route 202) and opened on April 27, 1985, as part of the original northeast line. The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, located near its intersection with 8 Avenue NE/Marlborough Drive NE. The station is from the City Hall Interlocking and is located near Calgary's Marlborough neighborhood and also serves nearby businesses along 36 Street NE, including Marlborough Mall. Pedestrian overpasses connect the station to both sides of 36 Street NE. Stairs, escalators, as well as an elevator provide access down to the center-loading platform. 485 spaces of the mall facility are now owned by Calgary Transit and are designated for park-and-ride service. CTrain
CTrain (previously branded C-Train) is a light rail rapid transit system in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Most of the network functions as a light metro, though in the free-fare zone that runs through the downtown core the Red and Blue lines operate like a urban tramway (this transition occurs due to the density of stations in the free-fare zone, and is possible due to the design of the rail vehicles and their ability to operate on both segregated and road-integrated tracks). The CTrain began operation on May 25, 1981 and has expanded as the city has increased in population. Marlborough is a residential neighbourhood in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by the 16 Avenue NE (Trans-Canada Highway) to the north, 52 Street NE to the east, Memorial Drive to the south and 36 Street NE to the west. Marlborough Mall is a shopping mall located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Opened in October 1972, the mall has expanded several times and today includes approximately 100 stores and services, and encompasses over 584,000 square feet. The mall also featured a Safeway Inc., Safeway until the 1990s, when the store moved to its own location west of 36th Street. The current anchor store is Wal-Mart Canada, Wal-Mart, as Sears Canada, Sears closed its doors in March 2017. Rundle Station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta. It is a stop on the Northeast Line (Route 202) and opened on April 27, 1985, as part of the original line. The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, to the north of the intersection of 20 Avenue NE/Rundlehorn Drive, right in front of Sunridge Mall. Southland Station is a CTrain light rail station in Southwood, Calgary, Alberta. It serves the South Line (Route 201) and opened on May 25, 1981, as part of the original line. The station is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR ROW), 9.5 km south of the City Hall interlocking at Southland Drive. The station consists of a center-loading platform with mezzanine access on the North end and grade-level access at the South end. 650 spaces are available for parking at the station. In 2005, the station registered an average transit of 10,500 boardings per weekday. On July 12, 2016, a flash flood occurred at Southland Park and Ride. Heritage Station is a CTrain light rail station in Haysboro, Calgary, Alberta as part of the original South Line (Route 201) which opened on May 25, 1981. The station, with a large 557 space park-and-ride lot, is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR right-of-way), 7.9 km south of the City Hall Interlocking, west of Macleod Trail. The station consists of a center-loading platform with mezzanine access on the north end and an at-grade access at the south end. As part of Calgary Transit's plans to operate four-car trains by the end of 2014, all three-car stations were extended.
