Moonsorrow MTR 20110617 14
Moonsorrow is a Finnish pagan metal band formed in Helsinki in 1995. Musically, the band incorporates elements of black metal and folk metal in their sound. The band call their sound "epic heathen metal" and try to distance themselves from the term " Viking metal". They have distanced themselves from other folk metal bands, emphasising that their music is pagan and spiritual and is challenging for its listeners, rather than happy or danceable. The band members have varying levels of pagan belief but they draw on pagan spirituality for lyrics and inspiration. History The group's earliest formation consisted of cousins Ville Sorvali (vocals and bass) and Henri Sorvali (guitar and keyboards; also keyboards for Finntroll, Barathrum, and session member of Ensiferum) who released various demos that were much more characteristic of melodic black metal than future releases. Their debut album, '' Suden Uni'', recorded in early 2000, was released in early 2001, along with ''Tämä ...

Satyricon (band)
Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Since its fourth album in 1999, the band has strayed from this style and included elements of traditional heavy metal in their sound. Satyricon was the first Norwegian black metal band to join a multi-national record label (EMI). History The band were formed in 1990 as EczemaPowaviolenza: by the bassist Wargod and drummer Exhurtum. In 1991, they decided to start playing black metal and change the band name to Satyricon. Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven) then joined the band. After the first demo ''All Evil'', Exhurtum was kicked out of the band because he "preferred hanging out with my girl at the time rather than kicking down gravestones together with the band", while Wargod left the music scene and became a UN soldier afterwards. Remaining members Satyr and Lemarchand hired the drummer ...

The Fire And The Wind
''The Fire And The Wind'' is the final album of the New Zealand Heavy metal band Demoniac, the only one to be recorded following their relocation to London. The black metal sound of the previous two albums was almost completely eschewed on this recording, with only vocalist Behemoth's shrieking vocals alluding to the genre. The music is otherwise very similar to DragonForce, the band Heimdall and Shred would go on to form after Demoniac's split. The note progression in the DragonForce song '' Soldiers of the Wastelands first sung portion is very similar to the note progression from 2:26 to 2:45 in the song ''The Eagle Spreads Its Wings'(1) Track listing # The Eagle Spreads Its Wings – 4:56 # Daggers and Ice – 8:54 # Demoniac Spell – 7:01 # Night Demons – 0:57 # Demons of the Night – 5:06 # Myths of Metal – 3:39 # Sons of the Master – 3:30 # The Fire And The Wind – 8:44 Personnel * Behemoth – Bass & Vocals * Heimdall In Norse mythology, Heimdall (from Old ...

Demoniac
Demoniac were a heavy metal band from New Zealand formed in Wellington in 1993 by singer and bass player Lindsay Dawson, guitarist Sam Totman and Drummer Steve Francis. They later moved to London, UK. Three of the members went on to form DragonForce. Their rather unusual musical style has often been labeled as "blackened power metal". Biography The group began playing black metal with Dawson and Totman adopting the stage names "Behemoth" and "Heimdall" as well as the genre's defining trappings and symbolism such as corpse paint. The following year the band was joined by The Magus on keyboards and drummer Mark Hamill from the avant-garde rock band Head Like a Hole. This line-up produced the band's first album ''Prepare for War'', after which Magus left Demoniac and was replaced on keyboards by MC Magnus, reportedly The Magus's brother Demoniac's next album was 1996's ''Stormblade'' that featured a slightly more melodic and catchier black metal style as well as controver ...

Keyboardist
A keyboardist or keyboard player is a musician who plays keyboard instruments. Until the early 1960s musicians who played keyboards were generally classified as either pianists or organists. Since the mid-1960s, a plethora of new musical instruments with keyboards have come into common usage, such as synthesizers and digital piano, requiring a more general term for a person who plays them. In the 2010s, professional keyboardists in popular music often play a variety of different keyboard instruments, including piano, tonewheel organ, synthesizer, and clavinet. Some keyboardists may also play related instruments such as piano accordion, melodica, pedal keyboard, or keyboard-layout bass pedals. Notable electronic keyboardists There are many famous electronic keyboardists in metal, rock, pop and jazz music. A complete list can be found at List of keyboardists. The use of electronic keyboards grew in popularity throughout the 1960s, with many bands using the Hammond organ, Mel ...
