Deborah Markowitz
Deborah Markowitz is the state director for The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts. Prior to this, she served from 2011-2017 as the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. She was appointed by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin. She has also been a Visiting Professor of Environmental Policy and Leadership at the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Markowitz was elected six times to serve as the Secretary of State of Vermont. Although she is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, she won the nomination of both the Republican and Democratic Parties in two of her races. Gerald Markowitz
Gerald Markowitz (born July 12, 1944) is an American historian, currently a Distinguished Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York (CUNY) and also a published author. After graduating in 1965 with a B.A. from Earlham College, Markowitz matriculated as a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. There he graduated in 1967 with an M.A. and in 1971 with a Ph.D. At CUNY's John Jay College of Criminal Justice, he has been a professor of history from 1970 to the present and since 2004 a distinguished professor of history. Harry Max Markowitz (born August 24, 1927) is an American economist who received the 1989 John von Neumann Theory Prize and the 1990 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Markowitz is a professor of finance at the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Markowitz (born 1954 in New York City) is an American physician, a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and a Research Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Nicholas Samuel Markowitz (September 19, 1984 – August 9, 2000) was an American teenager who was kidnapped and murdered at the age of 15 after a feud over drug money between his half-brother Benjamin Markowitz and Jesse James Hollywood. Kidnapping and murder Markowitz lived in West Hills, Los Angeles, with his parents, Jeff and Susan Markowitz. A feud between Nicholas' older half-brother, Ben Markowitz, and Jesse James Hollywood, a mid-level drug dealer, began over an alleged $1,200 debt owed to Hollywood by Ben Markowitz. William Markowitz
William Markowitz (February 8, 1907 in Melč, Austrian Silesia – October 10, 1998 in Pompano Beach, Florida) was an American astronomer, principally known for his work on the standardization of time. His mother was visiting Melč near Vítkov in Austrian Silesia (now Czech Republic) when William was born. The Polish family emigrated to the U.S. in 1910 and settled in Chicago. William earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1931, under W.D. MacMillan. He taught at Pennsylvania State College before joining the United States Naval Observatory in 1936, working under Paul Sollenberger and Gerald Clemence in the time service department. After having married Rosalyn Shulemson in 1943, Markowitz eventually became director of the department.
