Marko Kloos
Marko Kloos is a German author of military science fiction and high fantasy. Born in Germany, Kloos lives and works in the United States. Work Kloos is best known for his ''Frontlines'' series of military science fiction novels. Featuring the protagonist Andrew Grayson, they are set in a future in which a Western and an Eastern power bloc are at war with each other and with an alien threat. Reviewing the first novel, ''Terms of Enlistment'', ''io9'' described it as sticking close to the conventions of the genre, focusing on "guns, acronyms, hard-ass drill sergeants, explosions and battles on alien worlds". The reviewer considered the second novel, ''Lines of Departure'', to be an improvement in that it reflected a critical outlook towards powerful, centralized government that was often absent in leading works of the genre such as Robert Heinlein's ''Starship Troopers''. Viable Paradise
Viable Paradise is an annual one-week residential writing workshop held each autumn on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts and is focused on speculative fiction. The workshop began in 1997, as part of a science fiction convention presented by the Martha's Vineyard Science Fiction Association. Chapbook
A chapbook is a small publication of up to about 40 pages, sometimes bound with a saddle stitch. In early modern Europe a chapbook was a type of printed street literature. Produced cheaply, chapbooks were commonly small, paper-covered booklets, usually printed on a single sheet folded into books of 8, 12, 16 and 24 pages. They were often illustrated with crude woodcuts, which sometimes bore no relation to the text (much like today's stock photos), and were often read aloud to an audience. When illustrations were included in chapbooks, they were considered popular prints. The tradition of chapbooks arose in the 16th century, as soon as printed books became affordable, and rose to its height during the 17th and 18th centuries. ''Beneath Ceaseless Skies'' (''BCS'') is a fantasy adventure online magazine published in the United States by Firkin Press. History ''Beneath Ceaseless Skies'' first issue was released on October 9, 2008 featuring stories by Chris Willrich and David D. Levine. It was the runner-up for the 2008 Million Writers Award for the Best New Online Magazine, losing to '' Cha: An Asian Literary Journal''. In 2010 ''Beneath Ceaseless Skies'' became a SFWA qualifying venue for short fiction and on February 10 they released e-book anthology, entitled ''The Best of Beneath Ceaseless Skies Online Magazine, Year One'', which contained 14 stories which had been previously published in the magazine.
