Alexander Markey
Alexander Markey (1891–1958) was an American filmmaker and founder of Markey Films. He was born in Hungary and died in Switzerland. From 1928 to 1935 he was in New Zealand making films about the Māori people. In 1928 he was sent by Carle Laemmle of Universal Studios to make a film he called ''Taranga'', but did not keep to schedule or make any effective footage. So the film was made as Under the Southern Cross by Lew Collins. Two years later and described as "somewhat eccentric" Markey then returned for the making of '' Hei Tiki''; originally a silent film, which was released in 1935 with music and voice-over added in America. The film was shot in Waihi. When shooting was finished Markey left for America with “the film footage, many of the artifacts he had borrowed from Māori, a great many unpaid bills, and his partner Zoe Varney”. He had obtained £10,000 from New Zealand investors, and borrowed taonga or cherished tribal artifacts from the Māori cast. He had fired ... Betsy Markey
Elizabeth Helen Markey (born April 27, 1956) is a former American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives for from 2009 to 2011. She also served as assistant secretary for intergovernmental affairs in the United States Department of Homeland Security. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Early life and education Betsy Markey was born in Cresskill, New Jersey, as the sixth of seven children. Markey attended college at the University of Florida from 1974 through 1978. Her last semester was completed abroad at a university in Poznań, Poland. Markey completed a Masters of Public Administration in 1983 from American University. Brendan Markey
Brendan Markey (born 19 May 1976, in Dublin) was an Irish soccer player who plays for Bangor Celtic in the Leinster Senior League. A nippy striker, he started his career with Bohemians, where he scored at Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi in a 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup tie. In December 1995 he was snapped up for £60,000 by Mick McCarthy at Millwall. However his time in London was marred by injury and he did not play a single first team game for the Lions. David Markey (born December 3, 1963 in Burbank, California, United States) is an American film director. Biography As a self-taught filmmaker and musician, David Markey directed, produced, edited, and photographed most of his films, the majority of which have been self-funded. His work is also noted as documenting the punk scene in Southern California throughout the 1980s, growing to find a larger audience in the 1990s while continuing to produce work throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Markey has worked with Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Mudhoney, Redd Kross, Bob Mould, Circle Jerks, The Ramones, Black Flag and the Meat Puppets. Markey made his first film in 1974 at the age of 11 with his father's hand-wound 8mm Brownie camera, cast from the children of his Santa Monica, California neighborhood. Edward John Markey (born July 11, 1946) is an American lawyer, politician, and former Army reservist who has served as the junior United States senator from Massachusetts since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the U.S. representative for from 1976 to 2013. Between the House and Senate, Markey has served in Congress for more than four decades. He was also a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976. Enid Markey (February 22, 1894 – November 15, 1981) was an American theatre, film, radio, and television actress, whose career spanned over 50 years, extending from the early 1900s to the late 1960s. In movies, she was the first performer to portray the fictional character Jane, Tarzan's "jungle" companion and later his wife. David John Markey (October 7, 1882 – July 20, 1963) was an American politician, Army officer, businessman, and college football coach. He ran a controversial unsuccessful campaign for a United States Senate seat against former Maryland governor Herbert R. O'Conor in 1946. Markey also served as the head football coach at Maryland Agricultural College—now known as the University of Maryland, College Park—from 1902 to 1904, compiling a record of 12–13–4. Howard Thomas Markey (November 10, 1920 – May 3, 2006) was an American jurist who served as the first Chief United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is often credited with establishing that court's renown and competence in intellectual property law. Markey (born November 4, 1941) is an American politician who formerly represented District 30 in the New York State Assembly, which is made up of Maspeth and Woodside, as well as portions of Middle Village, Astoria, Sunnyside and Long Island City.
