Markapur Road Railway Station
Markapur Road railway station (station code: MRK), is an Indian Railway station in Markapur of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. It is situated on Nallapadu–Nandyal section and is administered by Guntur railway division of South Coast Railway zone. Electrification on Nallapadu–Cumbum part, where Markapur Road is located has been commissioned in 2017. It is one of the important station for the pilgrims of Srisailam and is selected as one of the station to be developed under ''Adarsh station scheme''. Regional rail, also known as local trains and stopping trains, are passenger rail services that operate between towns and cities. Markapur is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a Municipality and the headquarters of Markapur mandal in Markapur revenue division. Markapur is known for the Chennakesava Swamy Temple built by King Sri Krishnadevaraya, one of the oldest temples in the state. A carnival happens every year during Ratha yatra (Tirunalla in Telugu). Guntur district is one of the twenty six districts in the Coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Prakasam District
Prakasam district is one of the thirteen districts in the coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1970 and reorganised in 2022 on April 4. The headquarters of the district is Ongole. Guntur Railway Division
Guntur Railway Division is one of the three divisions of the South Coast Railway zone of Indian Railways. The division was sanctioned in 1995–96 and was fully operational on 1 April 2003, with its headquarters at Guntur. South Coast Railway Zone
South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) has been announced as the newest railway zone of the Indian Railways and is headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The formal notification for operationalization of this Zone is yet to be issued. Jurisdiction South Coast Railway will be headquartered at Visakhapatnam and have three divisions. The existing Waltair division will be bifurcated into two parts.
