Mark Westaby
Mark Westaby (born 17 April 1965) is a British strongman competitor, notable for being a repeat competitor at the World's Strongest Man. Biography Julian Mark Westaby was born in 1965 in Healaugh, near Tadcaster. He attended Tadcaster Grammar School before becoming a farmer. Mark Westaby's entry into the world of strength athletics was unlike any other of his counterparts. Rather than come into the sport from another sporting career, such as powerlifting, field athletics or weightlifting, or have been a focussed strength athlete, Mark simply wandered across a local strongman contest in 2003, entered it and won. His rise to the highest levels of British strength athletics was fast and by 2006 he had won Adrian Rollinson's Might Midlander contest. Healaugh, Selby
Healaugh is a village and civil parish in the Selby District of North Yorkshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 161 in 63 households. The population had increased to 249 at the 2011 census. The village is about three miles north north-east of Tadcaster. History Healaugh Park Priory was established near the village at the site now called Healaugh Manor Farm. It was founded in 1218 by Jordan de Santa Maria and his wife, Alice, who was the granddaughter of Bertram Haget. Haget had previously granted the lands outside the village for a hermitage to Gilbert, a monk of Marmoutier. It was finally dissolved in 1535. After the dissolution, it served as the Manor house, amongst whose owners were Sir Arthur D'Arcy and Thomas Wharton, 1st Baron Wharton. The 2007 World's Strongest Man was the 30th edition of World's Strongest Man and was won by Mariusz Pudzianowski from Poland. It was his fourth and record tying title. Mark Felix (born 17 April 1966) is a Grenadian-English strongman competitor and regular entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition. He has competed at a record 17 World's Strongest Man contests, reaching the finals three times. Adrian Rollinson (born 1965) is a British strongman (strength athlete), strongman competitor, notable for being a repeat competitor at the World's Strongest Man. Biography Adrian Rollinson was born in 1965 in Dudley. He came to prominence in strongman circles relatively late when he made the finals of Britain's Strongest Man in 1999, though he did not earn a place on the podium. In 2000 he won a Geoff Capes UK Strongest Man heat to qualify for the UK's Strongest Man 2000 show. For a long while, the top five placed athletes from Britain's Strongest Man qualified for the finals of the World's Strongest Man and Rollinson found himself thrown in with the world's best in 2000 at the finals in South Africa. Tadcaster
Tadcaster is a market town and civil parish in the Selby district of North Yorkshire, England, east of the Great North Road, north-east of Leeds, and south-west of York. Its historical importance from Roman times onward was largely as the lowest road crossing-point on the River Wharfe until the construction of the A64 Tadcaster by-pass some to the south, in 1978. There are two rail crossings downstream of the town before the Wharfe joins the River Ouse near Cawood. Tadcaster is twinned with Saint-Chély-d'Apcher in France.
