Mark West (basketball)
Mark Andre West (born November 5, 1960) is an American retired professional basketball player. A center from Old Dominion University, West was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round (30th overall) of the 1983 NBA draft. Early life West was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was raised in Petersburg, Virginia. He attended Petersburg High School. College West played four years at Old Dominion University (ODU) where he hauled down 1,113 career rebounds, shot 56 percent from the floor and scored 1,308 career points. In 1980 and 1982 West was named ECAC-South Tournament Most Valuable Player. He also led the nation in blocked shots in 1980 and 1981 and completed his career with 446 career blocks for a 3.8 per game average. He was declared an All-American three times. West performed three triple doubles (points, rebounds, blocked shots). He had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks on October 4, 1980. Mark West (footballer)
Mark West (born 3 April 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. An Indigenous Australian, West was from the Northern Territory and played with Darwin before embarking on a football journey which would see him play in three states. He joined the Brisbane Bears in 1991 and played reserves football at the club for two seasons before continuing his career in South Australia with South Adelaide. He was recruited from South Adelaide to the AFL, with Footscray using the 43rd selection in the 1995 draft to secure his services. The dreadlocked West was already 23 when he made his senior AFL debut in 1996 and made only four appearances in his debut season. He struggled to make much of an impact in 1997 until the finals series, with a career high 24 disposals and two goals coming in the preliminary final loss to Adelaide. William Marcus West
William Marcus "Mark" West was a Scottish American pioneer who settled in what is now eastern Sonoma County, California, United States. Life West came to the area in 1832, soon after marrying Guadalupe Vasquez, a sister of General Vallejo. At the time, the area belonged to Mexico. In 1840, he acquired the Rancho San Miguel, located north of Santa Rosa Creek. Mark West established a hacienda, post office, and trading post near Mark West Creek. Maria Francisca Guadalupe Vasquez y Lugo, who was the daughter of Felipe Vasquez y and Nicanor Lugo, married Mark West at the Mission San Carlos Boromeo in 1834. She was the granddaughter of Juan Athanasio Vasquez, who was a soldier in the Anza 1776 Expedition.
