Mark Wallis
Mark Andrew Wallis (born 1964) is an English greyhound trainer. He is a record 13 times UK champion Greyhound Trainer of the Year. Profile In 1990, Wallis joined leading trainer Linda Jones (greyhound trainer), Linda Jones at the Imperial Kennels (Linda would later become his mother-in-law). The kennel gained significant success during the following 15 years. In 2005 he became a trainer in his own right taking over the Imperial Kennels from Linda Jones. Patrick Janssens (greyhound trainer), Patrick Janssens was a kennelhand for Wallis from 2005-2014. Wallis secured the trainers title in his first year of training and won his first major competition (the Grand National (greyhounds), Grand National). The kennel continued to gain success and won numerous events culminating in the 2009 English Greyhound Derby crown. Towcester Greyhound Stadium
Towcester Greyhound Stadium is a greyhound racing track located within Towcester Racecourse at Towcester in Northamptonshire, England. It has been the home of the English Greyhound Derby since 2021, having previously hosted the event from 2017 to 2018. Opening Towcester opened on 6 December 2014 becoming the first track in Britain to open since the 1995 openings of Harlow and Sittingbourne. The idea of a track inside the horse racing course was created by Lord Hesketh the racecourse owner and Chief Executive Kevin Ackerman. Yarmouth Stadium is a greyhound racing track located at Caister-on-Sea in the Borough of Great Yarmouth and English county of Norfolk. It is licensed by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain. Greyhound Racing takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening. Harlow Stadium is a greyhound racing track located in Harlow, Essex, England. The stadium also has executive suites, a restaurant, a number of bars and conference and banqueting facilities. Racing takes place in the evening on Monday and Wednesday, and in the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Opening Harlow Stadium opened on Wednesday 15 March 1995. The site chosen for racing was an area north east of the town known as the Pinnacles just off the Roydon Road and directly west of the football stadium. Access to the track is on Stadium Way past the Scimitar industrial park. Lakenheath
Lakenheath is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. It has a population of 4,691 according to the 2011 Census, and is situated close to the county boundaries of both Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, and at the meeting point of The Fens and the Breckland natural environments. Patrick Janssens (born 19 September 1956) is a Belgian former politician. He was a member of the SP.a and the former mayor of the port city Antwerp. Career Janssens studied "Political and Social Sciences" and "Applied Economic Sciences" (both Masters) at the University of Antwerp and Statistics at the London School of Economics. From 1979 to 1985 he was an assistant in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Antwerp, first of Jan Vranken (with whom he wrote the first National Report on Poverty in Belgium, within the framework of the First European Anti-Poverty Programme) and then of Herman Deleeck. From 1985 to 1989, he ran a market research agency () after which he undertook several positions at the marketing agency VVL/BBDO until 1999. Linda Jones (greyhound Trainer)
Linda Eileen Jones is a retired English greyhound trainer. She is a twice champion trainer of Great Britain and was a leading trainer during the 1990s. Personal life Linda was born in July 1948 and married Doug Jones. In 1989 the pair moved to the village of Lakenheath in Suffolk and formed the Imperial Kennels. They later employed Mark Wallis in 1990, as their assistant trainer and he married their daughter Sarah before taking over the kennels on Linda's retirement. Patrick Janssens was also employed by the kennel. Career Linda initially raced at Swaffham Stadium, Yarmouth Stadium and Mildenhall Stadium before gaining a contract at Romford Stadium in 1994. In 1998 the kennel recorded 138 open race winners and finished 7th in the UK standings and qualifying as first reserve for the 1999 Trainers Championship at Walthamstow Stadium.
