Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. Peter Gallant
Peter J. Gallant (born December 20, 1958) is a Canadian curler from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He is the father of the 2017 Brier and World Champion Brett Gallant, and Christopher Gallant, a former PEI junior champion and 2014 Canadian University Champion. Curling career Gallant has played in nine Briers. In 1982, he played second for Peter Jenkins. Gallant would not make it to the Brier again until 1991 when he played third for Robert Campbell. He played third for Campbell again in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1999. He played third for Peter MacDonald at the 2001 Nokia Brier. Gallant did not return to the Brier until 2007, where he skipped team Prince Edward Island for the first time at a Brier. He also skipped PEI again the following year at the 2008 Brier in Winnipeg. Kathy O'Rourke
Kathleen O'Rourke (born April 30, 1964) is a Canadian curler from Cumberland, Prince Edward Island. She is a six-time provincial champion and is a former Canadian Mixed Champion. She is currently the coach of the Suzanne Birt rink. Career O'Rourke played in her first national women's championship in 1989, playing second for Kathie Gallant. The team finished 4–7. In 1991, she made it again, playing second for Angela Roberts, finishing 2–9. She made her third trip in 1996, playing third for Susan McInnes, finishing 6–5. This qualified the team for a tie-breaker match, which they lost to the defending champion Connie Laliberte (Team Canada) rink. In 1999, she returned once again, playing third for Rebecca Jean MacPhee, finishing with a 6–5 record once again, but missing the playoffs. Canadian Mixed Curling Championship
The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship is the national curling championship for mixed curling in Canada. The winners of the tournament will represent Canada at the World Mixed Curling Championship. In mixed curling, the positions on a team must alternate between men and women. If a man throws last rocks, which is usually the case, the women must throw lead rocks and third rocks, while the other male member of the team throws second rocks. In 2004, Shannon Kleibrink became the only woman to skip a team and win a Canadian Mixed championship. History The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship was established in 1964, with Canadian Breweries as the event's sponsor and Frank Sargent (sports executive), Frank Sargent as its committee chairman. The 2020 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from February 29 to March 8 at the Leon's Centre in Kingston, Ontario. The winning Brad Gushue rink was scheduled to represent Canada at the 2020 World Men's Curling Championship at the Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. 2020 PEI Tankard
The 2020 PEI Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship for Prince Edward Island, was held from January 8 to 12 at the Montague Curling Rink in Montague, Prince Edward Island. The winning Bryan Cochrane rink represented Prince Edward Island at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston, Ontario and finished with a 2–5 record. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's championship. The Cochrane rink went undefeated through the whole tournament, not losing a game as they won all three qualifying events. Rod MacDonald (born August 17, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter, novelist, and educator. He was a "big part of the 1980s folk revival in Greenwich Village clubs", performing at the Speakeasy, The Bottom Line, Folk City, and the "Songwriter's Exchange" at the Cornelia Street Cafe. He co-founded the Greenwich Village Folk Festival, now a non-profit, and is still the President and co-producer of its events.
