Mark McPhee
Mark William McPhee (25 January 1964 – 15 August 1999) was an Australian cricketer who played for Western Australia from 1984 to 1999. Career Having previously attended the Western Australian Institute of Sport and played for the Western Australia under-19 cricket team, McPhee made his first-class debut for Western Australia against Victoria in November 1984, scoring 85 runs from 127 balls batting at number five before being dismissed by Merv Hughes. Playing almost exclusively as an opening batsman, McPhee recorded two centuries in his first-class career, with a highest score of 135. In total, McPhee scored 1699 runs in 40 first-class games at an average of 27.85, and 594 runs in 17 limited overs games at an average of 37.12, with a highest score of 97. In August 1999, McPhee was killed when a truck collided with his four-wheel drive near Gingin. Princes Park (stadium)
Princes Park (or Carlton Recreation Ground, currently known by its sponsored name Ikon Park) is an Australian rules football ground located inside the wider Princes Park, Carlton, Princes Park in the inner Melbourne suburb of Carlton North, Victoria, Carlton North. It is a historic venue, having been the home ground of the Carlton Football Club since early in its history. Prior to a partial redevelopment the ground had a nominal capacity of 35,000, making it the third largest Australian rules football venue in Melbourne after the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Docklands Stadium. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Western Australian Grade Cricket
WA Premier Cricket in Western Australia refers to the semi-professional cricket league played at a level below the first-class Western Warriors and other state teams. The competition is administered by the Western Australian Cricket Association. It is the premier club cricket competition in Western Australia and players vying for Western Warriors and national team selection are typically chosen from Premier Cricket competition clubs. Retiring international and first-class players wishing to continue playing will generally return to their original Premier Cricket club. There are currently 16 teams in the competition.
