Mark McDonald (politician)
Mark McDonald (born 7 June 1980) is a Scottish politician who was the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Aberdeen Donside constituency from 2013 to 2021, having previously represented the North East Scotland region between 5 May 2011 and 14 May 2013. Formerly a Scottish National Party politician and Minister for Childcare and Early Years in the Scottish Government, he was suspended by the SNP in November 2017 following allegations of inappropriate behaviour against several women. Following a party investigation, the claims were substantiated, McDonald issued an apology on 6 March 2018, announcing he had now left the SNP and would sit in the Scottish Parliament as an Independent. Mark McDonald (hurler)
Mark McDonald (9 August 1888 – 16 February 1952) was an Irish hurler. Usually lining out as a goalkeeper, he was a member of the Kilkenny team that won the 1922 All-Ireland Championship. McDonald enjoyed a club career with Mooncoin that spanned three decades. He won his sole county championship medal in 1908. After being selected for the Kilkenny senior team in 1921, he held his position on the team for the following four championship seasons. He won his first Leinster medal in 1922 before later winning his sole All-Ireland medal after Kilkenny's defeat of Tipperary in the final. McDonald won a second Leinster medal in 1923. McDonald was married to Esther (née Howley) and had seven children. He died after a short period of ill health on 16 February 1952. Marc McDonald
Marc B. McDonald is an American who was Microsoft's first salaried employee (not counting Monte Davidoff, who wrote the math package for BASIC for a flat fee). He is credited with designing and implementing the 8-bit File Allocation Table file system for the NCR 8200 data-entry terminal and Microsoft's Standalone Disk BASIC-80 in 1977. McDonald also developed an 8-bit operating system called M-DOS or MIDAS; the system itself was never released by Microsoft, but its file system (a variant of FAT) influenced Tim Paterson's QDOS. A version of "Standalone Disk Basic" was ported to a Seattle Computer Products 8086 by Bob O'Rear, and Tim Paterson was often at Microsoft to aid in the effort.
