Gerard Mark Leishman (born 25 May 1956) is a New Zealand radio and television broadcaster. He was the breakfast host on the Magic radio network. from 15 April 2015 to 9 December 2022 and is also news editor and presenter of ''The Daily Report'', an agribusiness news show on Country TV. He also hosts a half hour long form interview series called ''Point of View'' on Country TV. As of 2023, he is a newsreader and fill-in host for Radio New Zealand. Career Leishman has been the producer and presenter of numerous television series, among them ''Top Town'', ''Tux Wonder Dogs'', ''Jeopardy!'', '' The Great New Zealand Spelling Bee'', ''Mud and Glory,'' and for 16 years host and co-producer (with his wife Jo Raymond) of ''The FMG Young Farmer Contest''. Magic (New Zealand)
Magic is a New Zealand oldies radio network owned by MediaWorks New Zealand. The network targets New Zealand's growing population of baby boomers with a line-up of veteran broadcasters. Its breakfast show, Magic Breakfast (formerly Magic in the Morning), is hosted by long-time radio personality, Mark Bunting. The station targets 50- to 69-year-olds, an older demographic than similar MediaWorks brands. It is run alongside The Breeze with a similar playlist, but The Breeze has a younger female skew and easy listening music focus. Another MediaWorks network, The Sound, previously played similar music but now has a male skew and a rock music focus. Magic targets older listeners who have a "youthful, active approach to life" and want "fantastic music and a feel-good attitude". Top Town
Top Town was a New Zealand game show series where teams from different towns in New Zealand competed in various obstacle challenges against each other, along the lines of the earlier British series ''It's a Knockout''. The show first ran in New Zealand between 1976 and 1990 and made a return in a slightly different form in 2009. The new format has similarities to '' Wipeout''. Top Town first screened on New Zealand television in 1976, the original Top Town competition took place at a different town each week with all competitions taking place on a local sports field. The Breeze is a New Zealand radio station playing an adult contemporary music format owned by MediaWorks New Zealand, playing a variety of music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and also current hits. The Breeze network broadcasts in 21 markets throughout New Zealand, with each station presenting a mixture of local and network programming. The Breeze had ratings success becoming New Zealand's number one music station, a rise from fifth in 2016 and in 2021 reaching its highest ever audience over 671,000 listeners. NZ On Screen is a state-funded online promotional showcase of New Zealand television and film. Funded by NZ On Air, it provides free worldwide access to NZ-produced television, film and music videos. Content is streamed and the webpages provide authoritative background information. The site was launched in October 2008 and is updated constantly. It provides titles in full or as excerpts, with background notes, photographs and profiles of key cast and crew. The Variety Artists Club of New Zealand Inc (VAC) is a non-for-profit organisation and show business club. It was founded in 1966 and became an incorporated society in 1972. Phillip John Leishman (9 April 1951 – 25 February 2013) was a New Zealand television broadcaster. Biography Born in Timaru in 1951, Leishman was educated at St Patrick's High School (now Roncalli College). He began his broadcasting career on radio in 1970 and first appeared on television in 1971 on DNTV2 in Dunedin, before becoming a sports news presenter for Television New Zealand from 1976 to 1998. In the 1990s, he also hosted 1,250 episodes of the local version of the game show ''Wheel of Fortune''. In the 2011 New Year Honours, he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to media and the community. In 1997 Leishman formed a company to produce television golf shows. He presented ''The Golf Show'', which became ''HSBC Golf Club'', from 1998 to 2012.
