Mark Hawthorne (umpire)
Mark Hawthorne (born 16 September 1962) is a Northern Irish cricket umpire. He stood in his first One Day International (ODI), between Ireland and Pakistan, on 28 May 2011. He stood in his first Twenty20 International (T20I), between the Netherlands and Canada in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, on 13 March 2012. In January 2018, he was named as one of the seventeen on-field umpires for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In February 2019, he was selected as part of an umpire exchange programme with Cricket West Indies to stand in matches in the Caribbean. The same month, he was one of the two on-field umpires in the match between Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands in the 2018–19 Regional Four Day Competition fixture at Windsor Park in Roseau. In April 2019, he was one of four umpires to be awarded a full-time season contract by Cricket Ireland, the first time that Cricket Ireland have offered such contracts to umpires. This is a list of cricket umpires who have officiated at least one men's One Day International (ODI) match. As of October 2022, 418 umpires have officiated in an ODI match. The first ODI match took place on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The umpires for this game were Tom Brooks and Lou Rowan. In April 2019, Claire Polosak became the first woman to stand in men's ODI match, when she was one of the on-field umpires for the final of the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. 2018–19 Regional Four Day Competition
The 2018–19 Regional Four Day Competition was the 53rd edition of the Regional Four Day Competition, the domestic first-class cricket competition for the countries of the Cricket West Indies (CWI). The competition started on 6 December 2018 and concluded on 17 March 2019. Six teams contested the tournament – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Windward Islands. Guyana were the defending champions. The players' draft for the tournament took place in May 2018. Ahead of the final round of fixtures, Guyana had a 23-point lead over their nearest rivals, the Leeward Islands, with the Leeward Islands needing to score the maximum of 24 points in their last game to win the tournament. In cricket, an umpire (from the Old French ''nompere'' meaning not a peer, i.e. not a member of one of the teams, impartial) is a person who has the authority to make decisions about events on the cricket field according to the ''Laws of Cricket''. Windward Islands Cricket Team
The Windward Islands cricket team is a cricket team representing the member countries of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control. The team plays in the West Indies Professional Cricket League (including the NAGICO Regional Super50) under the franchise name Windward Islands Volcanoes. It includes the islands that were known as the British Windward Islands except for Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, who have their own teams.
