Mark Gaskell
Mark Gaskell (born 17 October 1956) is an Australian cricketer. He played in sixteen first-class matches and three List-A matches for Queensland between 1977/78 and 1982/83. His father, Brian, was a life member of Queensland Cricket who played for Eastern Suburbs in Brisbane Grade Cricket and served as State Director of Coaching. Early life Gaskell was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He attended Brisbane State High School. He commenced his cricket career at Wynnum Manly in Brisbane Grade Cricket and ultimately succeeded his brother-in-law Wayne Broad as captain of the club in 1988. Career Gaskell debuted in First-class cricket for Queensland as an opening batsman in the 1977-78 season. His batting was described as "entertaining" in a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales, and he opened with West Indian Test player Alvin Kallicharran who was playing for Queensland in a game against Western Australia. Alvin Kallicharran
Alvin Isaac Kallicharran (born 21 March 1949) is a former Indo-Guyanese cricketer of Tamil origin who played Test cricket for the West Indies between 1972 and 1981 as a left-handed batsman and right-arm off spinner. Kallicharran was born in Port Mourant, British Guiana (now Guyana), where he started playing street cricket until his professional debut as captain of the under-16 Guyana team in 1966 and his first class debut in 1967. He was a ''Wisden'' Cricketer of the Year for 1983. He was part of the 1975 and 1979 teams that won the Cricket World Cup. His highest score is 187 against India in the 1978–79 tour. He also found success with Warwickshire in English County cricket. While playing against minor county Oxfordshire in the 1984 one day Natwest Trophy he scored 206 and took 6 for 32. Martin Kent
Martin Francis Kent (born 23 November 1953) is a former Australian cricketer who played in three Test matches and five One Day Internationals in 1981. Career Kent was a middle-order right-handed batsman. He scored 140 on his debut for Queensland in 1974–75 season followed by 76 in a Gillette Cup game. He found the going harder throughout the rest of the season, although he did manage 58 against Western Australia and 59 against South Australia. The following summer he scored 103 against South Australia and 101 against Victoria. South Africa Kent had frequently batted with Greg Chappell and received an offer to tour South Africa with an invitational XI, the International Wanderers. John Buchanan (Australian Cricketer)
John Marshall Buchanan (born 5 April 1953) is the former World Cup winning coach of the Australia national cricket team and of Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League. John Buchanan is a King's Old Collegian (University of Queensland, Brisbane) and is also an old boy of The Southport School, located in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Buchanan is also known in cricketing circles as 'Ned Flanders', due to his similarity in appearance to the character in ''The Simpsons''. Early career Buchanan had a brief first-class career with Queensland in 1978–79 in which he played in 7 matches and scored 160 runs. Wayne Broad
Wayne Ronald Broad (born 20 June 1956) is a former first-class cricketer who played for Queensland from 1977 to 1987, mostly as a batsman and medium-paced bowler. His son, Ryan, also played cricket for Queensland. Broad played for Wynnum Manly in Brisbane Grade Cricket and he held the record for the most runs scored for the club until his son surpassed his tally in 2015. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out").
