Mark Faucette
Mark Faucette (born June 9, 1958, in Springfield, Massachusetts) was a National Hockey League referee. He refereed NHL games on a regular basis from the 1987–88 NHL season until he was fired following the 2002–03 NHL season. He officiated 918 regular season games, 72 playoff games, one All-Star game and the 1998 Nagano Olympics. In ice hockey, an official is a person who has some responsibility for enforcing the rules and maintaining the order of the game. There are two categories of officials, on-ice officials, who are the referees and linesmen that enforce the rules during gameplay, and off-ice officials, who have an administrative role rather than an enforcement role. On-ice officials As the name implies, on-ice officials do their job on the hockey rink. The 1987–88 NHL season was the 71st season of the National Hockey League. It was an 80-game season with the top four teams in each division advancing to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 2002–03 NHL season was the 86th regular season of the National Hockey League. The Stanley Cup winners were the New Jersey Devils, who won the best of seven series 4–3 against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Regular season The regular season saw several surprises.
