Mark Ellis (actor)
Mark Ellis is a Canadian actor and screenwriter. He was the co-showrunner and executive producer of the CBC series X Company which premiered February 18, 2015 on CBC. He also co-created and executive produced '' Flashpoint'' which aired on CBS, CTV, ION Television and networks around the world. The series was awarded the Academy Board of Directors Tribute for Outstanding and Enduring Contribution to Canadian Television, in addition to a Canadian Screen Award and Gemini Award for Best Dramatic Series. Ellis and his spouse Stephanie Morgenstern have received Gemini and Writers Guild awards for their writing in the series. He has appeared in television, film and theatre, including the Emmy Award-winning ''Dark Oracle''. ''Remembrance'' is a Canadian short film, directed by Stephanie Morgenstern and released in 2001. Stephanie Morgenstern is a Canadian actress, filmmaker, and screenwriter for television and film. She has worked extensively on stage, film, and television in both English and French. Her most widely seen feature film credits have been '' The Sweet Hereafter, Maelström, Julie and Me (Revoir Julie)'' and ''Forbidden Love''. Morgenstern is also widely recognized by anime fans as the voice of Sailor Venus in the DIC Entertainment English dub of ''Sailor Moon'' in the first few seasons as well as the movies. Genie Awards
The Genie Awards were given out annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to recognize the best of Canadian cinema from 1980–2012. They succeeded the Canadian Film Awards (1949–1978; also known as the "Etrog Awards," for sculptor Sorel Etrog, who designed the statuette). Genie Award candidates were selected from submissions made by the owners of Canadian films or their representatives, based on the criteria laid out in the ''Genie Rules and Regulations'' booklet which is distributed to Academy members and industry members. Peer-group juries, assembled from volunteer members of the Academy, meet to screen the submissions and select a group of nominees. Academy members then vote on these nominations.
