Mark Doumit
Mark Lawton Doumit (November 26, 1961 – June 21, 2021) was an American commercial fisherman and politician who represented the 19th District in the Washington State Senate and the State House from 1997-2006. Political career Doumit was elected as a Wahkiakum County Commissioner in 1988. He served two terms as a Commissioner before running for the Washington House of Representatives in 1996. In the House, Doumit chaired the House Natural Resources Committee. Doumit was appointed to the Senate in 2002 to fill the term of Sid Snyder Sidney R. Wahkiakum County () is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 4,422, making it the third-least populous county in Washington. The county seat and only incorporated town is Cathlamet. The county was formed out of Cowlitz County in April 1854 and is named for Chief Wahkiakum ("Tall Timber") of the Chinook, who is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Cathlamet. The county operates the Wahkiakum County Ferry, which connects Cathlamet to Westport, Oregon, across the Columbia River. Sidney R. Snyder (July 30, 1926 – October 14, 2012) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Kelso, Washington, he graduated from Kelso High School (Washington), Kelso High School and went to Lower Columbia College. Snyder served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. In 1946, he owned and operated Sid's Market a grocery store in Seaview, Washington. He also founded a bank. In 1949, Snyder worked for the Washington State Legislature as an elevator operator and then as a clerk.
