Marcus G. Curry (born June 1, 1961), known professionally as Mark Curry, is an American actor, comedian, and television host. He is best known for his role as Mark Cooper, ex–basketball player turned teacher on the ABC sitcom '' Hangin' with Mr. Cooper'' which originally aired from 1992 to 1997. Curry also served as one of the various hosts of the syndicated series ''It's Showtime at the Apollo'' during the early 1990s. Curry co-starred in all three seasons of '' See Dad Run'', Nick at Nite's first original live-action family comedy series, from 2012 to 2015. Early life and education Born in Oakland, California, Curry is the youngest of nine. Mark Preston Curry (born 27 August 1961) is an English actor as well as a television and radio presenter. He is best known for his career on the British-television children's show ''Blue Peter'' (1986–1989) as a host, as well as his run as host on ITV British gameshow '' Catchphrase'' (2002). Early years Born in Stafford, Curry grew up in the mining village of Allerton Bywater near Castleford in the West Riding of Yorkshire. His father, Arthur, a physical training instructor and prison officer, died when Curry was five. His mother, Lily, was a maternity nurse. Mark Curry is an American rock musician and singer-songwriter. He is best known for his single "Sorry About the Weather", a number 20 hit on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart in 1992. He formed his first band, Crystal Sphere, with Larry Beilby "White Boy Larry," Fernando Barrios, Ricky Rutherford and Aaron "El Hefe" Abeyta, who would later join NOFX. The band was formed in the 1980s while Curry attended Sacramento City College. One of Crystal Sphere's earliest followers, "Gumdroplou" (gumdrop Lou), became their first manager, booking gigs at pubs in downtown Davis, California, and even at the Davis airport for skydivers. In the early 1990s Crystal Sphere moved to Los Angeles, California. Although "Gumdroplou" came with them, and was roommates with El Hefe for some time, they replaced him as manager with Desi Benjamin, who began setting up showcases for the band who got Mark Curry signed after a bidding war to Virgin Records and Virgin Publishing. Markus Jamaine Curry (born April 7, 1981) is an American football cornerback during 2000s. He was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2005.
