Mark Cresse
Mark Emery Cresse (born September 21, 1951) is an American former professional baseball catcher and Major League Baseball (MLB) coach, who is best remembered for his 25 years of coaching for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1974–1998). Cresse was born in St. Albans, New York. He went on to play college baseball for Golden West College, before transferring to California State University, Long Beach, where he was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. Baseball career Playing Cresse was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 1971 Major League Baseball draft. He played three seasons of Minor league baseball (MiLB), playing for five lower-level affiliates in the Cardinals' organization. In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Mark Trumbo
Mark Trumbo (born January 16, 1986) is an American former professional baseball first baseman and outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 2010 through 2013, for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014 and 2015, the Seattle Mariners in 2015 and the Baltimore Orioles from 2016 to 2019. Gerrit Cole
Gerrit Alan Cole (born September 8, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. Cole played for the baseball team at Orange Lutheran High School, and was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft. Cole opted not to sign, and instead attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins. Cy Young Award
The Cy Young Award is given annually to the best pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB), one each for the American League (AL) and National League (NL). The award was first introduced in 1956 by Baseball Commissioner Ford Frick in honor of Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young, who died in 1955. The award was originally given to the single best pitcher in the major leagues, but in 1967, after the retirement of Frick, the award was given to one pitcher in each league. Each league's award is voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, with one representative from each team. Frederick Charles Freeman (born September 12, 1989) is an American-Canadian professional baseball first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Bradley Garrett Cresse (born July 31, 1978) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He attended Los Alamitos High School and Marina High School (Huntington Beach, California), Marina High School, where he was recognized as one of the better high school baseball players in Orange County, California, Orange County. He then attended Louisiana State University (LSU), where he played college baseball for the LSU Tigers. As a senior, Cresse won the Johnny Bench Award, given to the top collegiate catcher. A pennant is a commemorative flag typically used to show support for a particular athletic team.
