Mark Calder
Mark Norman Calder is an Australian bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia, who has served as the Anglican Bishop of Bathurst, Bishop of Bathurst since November 2019. Calder was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Broken Hill but soon moved to Sydney, living in Eastwood, New South Wales, Eastwood where he attended Eastwood Primary School and Epping Boys High School. He worked in the television industry, then studied at Moore Theological College from 1984 to 1987. He worked as an assistant minister in parishes in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Diocese of Sydney at Lalor Park, New South Wales, Lalor Park and St Thomas' Anglican Church, North Sydney, North Sydney, before becoming rector of St Andrew's Anglican Church, Roseville, a position he held for 18 years. St Thomas' Anglican Church, North Sydney
St Thomas' Anglican Church, North Sydney is a large Anglican church in Sydney's North Shore. It is located at the corner of Church and McLaren streets, close to the North Sydney central business district. The church is listed on the local government heritage register and is listed on the (now defunct) Register of the National Estate. History The first church called St Thomas' on the site, then named St Leonard's, was designed by Conrad Martens and opened in 1846. Martens personally carved the font, which is still in use. In the later years of the first Rector's time at St Thomas', the Anglican architect Edmund Blacket was recommended to design a larger church; it opened in 1884 in the Victorian Academic Gothic style. The graveyard holds the remains of many famous colonialists, including Edward Wollstonecraft. St Andrew's Cathedral (also known as St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral) is a cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney in the Anglican Church of Australia. St Andrew's Anglican Church, Roseville is an active Anglican church on the corner of Bancroft Avenue and Hill Street in Roseville, New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Diocese of Sydney. History The first church building was licensed for use on 2 April 1913. The foundation stone for the current building was laid by Archbishop Howard Mowll in 1935. The rector of the time was W. J. Roberts. The building was designed by C. H. Finch, and built by S. C. Molineaux, and seats approximately 350. The original cost of the building was approximately A₤5,500. The main level of the church consists of the nave, transepts, chancel, baptistry, organ chamber, porches, and a tower on the north west corner.
