Mark C. Honeywell
Mark Charles Honeywell (December 29, 1874 – September 13, 1964) was an American electronics industrialist. He co-initiated the eponymous corporation Honeywell and was its first president and CEO (1927–1933). Early years and marriage Honeywell spent his childhood growing up in Wabash, Indiana and Florida. He had various jobs during his younger years, including working in the citrus and bicycle businesses, and in his father's Wabash mill. He graduated from Eastman Business College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1891. Honeywell was married twice. His first wife, Olive May Lutz, whom he married in 1899, died in 1939 as the result of a fall while on a boating excursion in Florida. In 1942, he married Eugenia (née Hubbard) Nixon, the widow of Don Morrison Nixon, a newspaperman from Wabash, Indiana. Eugenia died on February 8, 1974 in a house fire. Wabash, Indiana
Wabash is a city in Noble Township, Wabash County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 10,666 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Wabash County. Wabash is notable as claiming to be the first electrically lighted city in the world, which was inaugurated on March 31, 1880. However, closer inspection of the reference shows only the court house grounds were lighted. It is also home to the historic Eagles Theatre, Paradise Spring Treaty Grounds (1826), the Wabash and Erie Canal, Presbyterian Church (1880), and Disciples of Christ Christian Church (1865). Geography Wabash is located at (40.800799, -85.827163). The Wabash river runs through the town, on its way towards Peru, where it splits creating a series of islands, and where the sandbars are quite common on this stretch. The Eastman Business College was a business school located in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. It operated from 1859 until it closed in 1931. At the height of its success, the school was one of the largest commercial colleges in the United States. History Eastman Business College was founded by Harvey G. Eastman in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1859. Rather than merely being a theoretical school, students gained practical experience in the business arts by actually performing the tasks that would be expected of them in their working careers, a novel approach at the time.
