Mark Blicavs
Mark Blicavs ( ; born 28 March 1991) is a professional Australian rules footballer for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He made his debut for the club in round one of the 2013 AFL season. Early life Blicavs' parents were both born overseas – his father was born in New Zealand to Latvian parents, and his mother was born on the isle of Jersey. Both of his parents represented Australia at basketball. His father Andris Blicavs played at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and his mother Karen Ogden was a member of the team that competed at the 1983 World Championships. His brother Kris has played basketball in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) and his sister Sara Blicavs played in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). Taylors Lakes Football Club
The Taylors Lakes Football Club, nicknamed the Lions or colloquially the Lakers, is an Australian rules football club located in Taylors Lakes, Victoria, north west of Melbourne. The club originated in 1989 with the intention to field junior sides, and in 1991 affiliated with the Essendon District Football League at a senior level. The club has competed in the league since 1993, and today fields teams in Division 1 and Division 1 Reserves, as well as a number of junior squads. Andris Blicavs
Andris Blicavs (born 30 July 1954) is an Australian retired basketball player. Biography Blicavs was born in New Zealand to Latvian immigrant parents. He grew up in Adelaide and Melbourne. His sister Ilze also played the game at elite level. Blicavs played for the Australia men's national basketball team during the 1970s. He competed for Australia at the 1974 World Championship in Puerto Rico and the 1978 World Championship in the Philippines. Blicavs also represented Australia at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Blicavs is married to former Opals player Karen Ogden, who represented Australia at the 1983 World Championship held in Brazil. Women's National Basketball League
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women's counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL). Several WNBL teams have NBL counterparts. Sara Blicavs ( lv, Sāra Blicava; born 15 February 1993) is an Australian professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Southside Flyers in the WNBL Blicavs was a member of the Australian Women's basketball team (Opals) at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Opals were eliminated after losing to the USA in the quarterfinals. Career Blicavs plays in the guard or forward positions.
