Marju Länik
Marju Länik (born 7 September 1957, Otepää) is an Estonian singer. Biography Länik began singing in the early 1970s in her hometown of Otepää. In 1975, he graduated from Otepää Secondary School and in the summer of the same year she became a soloist of the Estonian National Philharmonic. Greater recognition came at the end of the decade in participating at the Eesti Televisioon programme "Kaks Takti Ette" and being in the music film "Suveviisid Võrtsjärvel". At the same time, she was a soloist in the Tallinn Philharmonic Orchestra's version of Vana Toomas, singing with sisters Ele Kõlar and Kaja Kõlar. Concerts were given in Moscow, Kiev, Leningrad, Riga and elsewhere. From 1977 to 1979, she sang in Otepää in the ensemble Nustago and the trio Sarm. Later, in the 1980s, she performed with bands such as Vitamiin, Mobile, Music Seif, Kontakt, Mahavok, and others, which received recognition in the Soviet Union. Eesti Laul 2018
Estonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "La forza" written by Mihkel Mattisen, Timo Vendt, Ksenia Kuchukova and Elina Nechayeva. The song was performed by Elina Nechayeva. The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2018'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Ten songs competed in each semi-final and five from each semi-final as determined by a jury panel and public vote qualified to the final. In the final, the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a jury panel and a public vote selected the top three to qualify to the superfinal. In the superfinal, "La forza" performed by Elina Nechayeva was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Medal "For Labour Valour"
The Medal "For Labour Valour" (russian: Медаль «За трудовую доблесть») was a civilian labour award of the Soviet Union bestowed to especially deserving workers to recognise and honour dedicated and valorous labour or significant contributions in the fields of science, culture or the manufacturing industry. It was established on December 27, 1938 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. During its existence, its statute was amended three times by further decrees, first on June 19, 1943 to amend its description and ribbon, then on December 16, 1947 to amend its regulations, and finally on July 18, 1980 to confirm all previous amendments. During its existence of just over fifty years, it was bestowed to almost two million deserving citizens. The medal ceased to be awarded following the December 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union. 2007 Estonian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Estonia on 4 March 2007. The newly elected 101 members of the 11th Riigikogu assembled at Toompea Castle in Tallinn within ten days of the election. It was the world's first nationwide vote where part of the voting was carried out in the form of remote electronic voting via the internet. The election saw the Estonian Reform Party emerged as the largest faction in the Riigikogu with 31 seats. The Estonian Centre Party finished second with 29 seats, whilst the new Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica lost 16 seats compared to the 35 won by the two parties in the 2003 elections. The Estonian Reform Party ( et, Eesti Reformierakond) is a liberal political party in Estonia. The party has been led by Kaja Kallas since 2018. It is colloquially known as the "Squirrel Party" ( et, Oravapartei). It was founded in 1994 by Siim Kallas, then-president of the Bank of Estonia, as a split from Pro Patria National Coalition Party.
