Marjatta Kajosmaa
Ritva Marjatta Kajosmaa (born 3 February 1938 in Vehkalahti) is a Finnish former cross-country skier who competed during the 1970s. She competed in two Winter Olympics, earning a total of four medals. Kajosmaa also competed several times at the Holmenkollen ski festival, winning four times at 10 km (1969, 1971–1973) and three times at 5 km (1969, 1972-1973). Additionally, she won two medals at the 1970 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a silver in the 10 km, and a bronze in 3 × 5 km relay. For her successes in Nordic skiing and at the Holmenkollen, Kajosmaa received the Holmenkollen medal in 1971 (Shared with Berit Mørdre Lammedal and Reidar Hjermstad Reidar Hjermstad (born 10 October 1937) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier and biathlete who competed in the 1960s and 1970s. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation. Reidar Hjermstad (born 10 October 1937) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier and biathlete who competed in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1963, Hjermstad won two events at the Lahti, Finland ski games, earning a Salpausselkä Medal. For his Lahti successes, Hjermstad earned the Norwegian Sportsperson of the Year (Norwegian: Årets Idrettsnavn) in 1963. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1974
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1974 took place 16–24 February 1974 in Falun, Sweden. This was the second time this city hosted the event having done so in 1954. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1970 took place 14–22 February 1970 in Vysoké Tatry, Czechoslovakia (present-day Slovakia). This was the second time this city hosted the event having done so in 1935.
