Marjan Gorenc (born February 27, 1964, in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia) Profile owww.eurohockey.net/ref> is a retired Slovenian professional ice hockey player. Career Club career In 1983, Gorenc made his debut with HK Olimpija Ljubljana in the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League. He also played three seasons with HK MK Bled in the Slovenian Hockey League, before retiring in 2000. International career Gorenc represented both Yugoslavia and Slovenia in international competitions. HDD Olimpija Ljubljana
Hokejsko drsalno društvo Olimpija Ljubljana, commonly referred to as HDD Olimpija or simply Olimpija, was a Slovenian professional ice hockey club from Ljubljana. They played their home games at the Tivoli Hall. Olimpija has won 13 Yugoslav championships and 15 Slovenian championships. They won ten consecutive titles between 1995 and 2004. History The club was founded in 1928 as SK Ilirija. It was the first club on the territory of Yugoslavia to play organized ice hockey under the Canadian rules. In the 2007–08 season, their first in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, they made it all the way to the Finals, but lost 4 games to 2 against EC Red Bull Salzburg. The 1984 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XIV Olympic Winter Games (Serbo-Croatian and Slovene: ''XIV. Slovenian Hockey League
The Slovenian Hockey League is the highest level ice hockey league in Slovenia. The championship phase is contested after the regular season to determine the national champion. History The Slovenian Hockey League was firstly contested in the 1991–92 season, with the championship being held at the end as the play-offs. Over time, some Slovenian teams entered the Austrian Hockey League, and joined only for the play-offs. In the 2007–08 season there was an issue, as the Croatian team Medveščak qualified for the play-offs. As the Slovenian Champion could only be a team from Slovenia, they did not take part in the play-offs. The Slohokej League was established and played its first season in 2009–10, but was cancelled after the 2011–12 season. Yugoslav Ice Hockey League
The Yugoslav Ice Hockey League was the top ice hockey league in the old Yugoslavia. In 1939, Yugoslavia became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. That year also, the country held its first national championship, with Ilirija emerging as champion. For many years, teams from Slovenia dominated even if Serbian and Croatian teams were also successful for a while during the late-1980s and early-1990s, right before the breakup of Yugoslavia. The league folded in 1991, when the country split. Since then, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have had their own national leagues.
