Mario J. Ciampi
Mario Joseph Ciampi (April 27, 1907 – July 6, 2006) was an American architect and urban planner best known for his modern design influence on public spaces and buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area. Biography Ciampi's parents emigrated from Italy to California in 1906. Guido and Palmira Ciampi travelled on the SS Deutschland (1900), SS ''Deutschland'' from Genoa, arriving at Ellis Island, New York on 3 March 1906. They had friends in San Francisco and arrived there just in time for the great San Francisco earthquake of April 18. The devastation caused by the earthquake and subsequent fire forced them to live in an Army issue tent on Presidio of San Francisco, the Presidio for several months. George Christopher
George Christopher (born George Christopheles; December 8, 1907 – September 14, 2000) was a Greek-American politician who served as the 34th mayor of San Francisco from 1956 to 1964. He is the most recent Republican to be elected mayor of San Francisco. Early years Born George Christopheles in Arcadia, Greece, the son of James and Mary (née Koines) Christopheles. He and his family emigrated to the United States in 1910 and settled in San Francisco's South of Market Street neighborhood, then known as "Greektown", when Christopher was two years old. The Doran Memorial Bridge is the twin pair of steel girder bridges that carry eight lanes of road traffic on Interstate 280 over San Mateo Creek near Hillsborough, California in San Mateo County. History The Doran Memorial Bridge was originally known as the San Mateo Creek Bridge according to Caltrans plans. It was named the Eugene A. Lawrence Halprin
Lawrence Halprin (July 1, 1916 – October 25, 2009) was an American landscape architect, designer and teacher. Beginning his career in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, in 1949, Halprin often collaborated with a local circle of modernist architects on relatively modest projects. These figures included William Wurster, Joseph Esherick, Vernon DeMars, Mario J. Ciampi, and others associated with UC Berkeley. Micaela "Kai" Martinez DuCasse (1913–1989) was an American artist, author, and educator, known for her murals and sculptures. She was the daughter of Elsie Whitaker Martinez and painter Xavier Martínez. From 1955 to 1978 she taught at the San Francisco College for Women. Biography Micaela Martinez was born on August 26, 1913, in San Francisco, California, to Elsie Whitaker Martinez and painter Xavier Martinez.
