Mario Benedetti (Italian Poet)
Mario Benedetti (9 November 1955 – 27 March 2020) was an Italian poet. He was among the founders of the contemporary poetry magazines ''Scarto minimo'' (published in Padua from 1986 to 1989) and ''Arsenal littératures'' (published in Brest from 1999 to 2001). Biography After spending the first twenty years of his life in Nimis (Udine), his parents' hometown, he moved to Padua in 1976, where he graduated in Literature with a thesis on the work of Carlo Michelstaedter, after which he graduated in Aesthetics at the Postgraduate School of the same university faculty. He devoted himself to teaching in high schools, first in Padua and then in Milan, where he moved. His life, his poetry and his way of being were strongly characterized by the presence of a chronic disease: a particular form of multiple sclerosis that accompanied him from childhood. Padua
Padua ( ; it, Padova ; vec, Pàdova) is a city and ''comune'' in Veneto, northern Italy. Padua is on the river Bacchiglione, west of Venice. It is the capital of the province of Padua. Biancamaria Frabotta
Biancamaria Frabotta (11 June 1946 – 2 May 2022) was an Italian writer. She promoted the study of women writers in Italy and her early poetry focused on feminist issues. The main themes of her later works are melancholy, the dichotomy between Nature and History and between Action and Contemplation, the relationship between the body and the self, and conjugal love. Besides essays on feminism and academic works on poets such as Giorgio Caproni, Franco Fortini, and Amelia Rosselli, she wrote plays, radio-dramas, a television show on Petrarch, and a novel. Until her retirement in 2016, she taught Modern Italian Literature at the University of Rome La Sapienza, where she previously received her Laurea degree. Enzo Siciliano (27 May 1934 – 9 June 2006) was an Italian writer, playwright, literary critic and intellectual. Siciliano was born in Rome. He was collaborator of Alberto Moravia, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Elsa Morante and many other famous writers in the 1950s and 1960s. __NOTOC__ From 1996 to 1998 he was President of RAI (Italian State Television). Andrea Zanzotto (10 October 1921 – 18 October 2011) was an Italian poet. Biography Andrea Zanzotto was born in Pieve di Soligo (province of Treviso, Veneto), Italy to Giovanni and Carmela Bernardi. His father, Giovanni (born 18 November 1888), had received degrees from the ''École supérieure de peinture'' at Brussels (1911, specializing in trompe-l'œil in wood and marble) and the Academy of Fine Arts at Bologna (1913, diploma di professore di disegno). Having been hired by a large painting business in Trieste, he was inducted into the army in 1915 and took part in combat on the Piave River. Giovanni had been involved with Carmela for some time, but postponed marriage until his work abroad (Trieste at that time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire) earned him enough to support a family. Dejan Ilić (; born 24 March 1976) is a Serbian former footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Ilić spent five and a half seasons with Red Star Belgrade over two spells between 1997 and 2004, winning three national championships (2000, 2001, and 2004) and three national cups (1999, 2000, and 2004). Michel Deguy
Michel Deguy (23 May 1930 – 16 February 2022) was a French poet and translator. Biography Deguy was born in Paris on 23 May 1930. He taught French literature at the Universite de Paris VIII (Saint-Denis) for many years. He also served as director of the French literary journal '' Po&sie'', and as editor of ''Les Temps Modernes'', the literary journal founded by Jean-Paul Sartre. As a translator, he translated Heidegger, Gongora, Sappho, Dante, and many others. He won the following prizes for his work: the Prix Mallarme, the Grand prix national de la poésie, the Prix Max Jacob, the Grand Prix de Poésie de l'Académie Française, the Prix Fénéon, and the Prix Joseph-Kessel. Deguy died in Paris on 16 February 2022, at the age of 91. The actress Marie-Armelle Deguy is his daughter.
